She Wore Blue Flannel

~ I am telling you... ~

all I need is a date for the Prom and I'm ready to go.  And maybe a wrist corsage.  Wanna see my dress?  Of course you do, right?  yeah.

ta-dah

The latest in flannel shirt re-creations:  just add tulle and old drapery scraps and some other stuff.

just can't keep still

Wearing pantaloons I made that you haven't seen yet, boots from you know where, and a necklace made from fabric and old jewelry bits.

a dramatic side slit

Wherein you can see the loverly drapery ruffle, the pantaloons pleats and my stone-colored lace-up boots.  woo-hoo.
attempt at back shot

Lettuce not forget the obligatory boot shot:
ok then.

This was so much fun to make.  You can see the blue flannel dress up close and in detail on my Clothes from Fall page if you want.  I've got two more that are waiting in the wings for their photos and a third in process.  Rolling, rolling, rolling...on over to Sheila's Shoe Shine.  Let's go!  And I'm ready to go for Patti and the Visibles at Not Dead Yet Style.  See you there.

  2. Oh My! I love this so much. My Irish Nana used to have a wonderful closet filled with ballet costumes and unfinished sewing projects dating all the way back to the 1940's. My sister and I used to practically NEST in there. Your beautiful dress just brought back so many memories of tulle and flannel and vintage lovliness. You are truly Queen of the Prom.

    1. Those were the days...and now they are here again when I make up these flannel shirt numbers. It's just like dress up time. Enjoy, enjoy. I certainly enjoyed your tulle number, actually 2 worn together I believe. Now that's something.

  3. Sheer genius (bwa-ha-ha, sorry...) Truly, Pao, someone is going to come around and ask you to design a whole fashion line some day. Flannel - better than velvet in this case. I don't know which way to look there is so much visual interest here. You're whipping up a storm! Love it!

  6. I like the pseudo hair decoration in the first shot!
I've been going blind trying to work out the front draping. Maybe you have to do it to get it. Looks like it goes down, turns and comes back up? The pantaloons are a magic touch!
Would love to see close ups of the necklace.
Can't wait for the next one! You're on fire...once again :-) xo JJ

    1. I know, doesn't look like I have mouse ears? or maybe a bow...
Yeah, I just used all the yardage I had of the tulle, so it does swoop down and twists over and comes back up again until it ran out. There's also some tied knots at the ends.
You can see the necklace pictures on my Clothes from Fall page too, much, much further down.

    1. I do believe flannel is the new black, or the new leopard. It just goes with everything. So far corduroy, silk brocade and now drapery and tulle. Who knows what will be next!

    1. Yep, a big ole men's faded flannel shirt that was given to me, that was what started it all. And I'm thankful for your gathering the Visibles together this time and all the time before and since. Or something like that. yeah.

  13. Oh, I am so drooling over his whole idea ... perfection! Are you wearing it for Turkey Day ... probably a little late in the season for prom. Or not, but you look grand. Too smart, Pat! Love every inch, pantaloons a must with the side slit.
Enjoy your holiday, no matter what you wear!

  14. I love the mix of fabrics in the dress, and the drapey shape! The boots are perfect with this style of dress - that's the kind of boot I would wear all winter with dresses. The pantaloons add a wonderful bit of ruffled interest under the dress; A+ for a funky, fabulous outfit!
