Women In Clothes Dresses

A friend asked if I had the book.  Why yes, as a matter of fact, I do.

~ and it goes so well with my dresses too ~

My ensemble was made last Spring.

~ as I'm still on sewing hiatus ~

In fact, my doctor referred me to a Sports Specialist.  Meanwhile I'm feeling no pain, being put on drugs until the appointment comes 'round.  Although since there's no pain, I have been sneaking in a little sewing here and there a few hours at a time.  Can't go longer than that cuz I'm exhausted too.  geez.

~ and back view ~

The over dress is the Peplone Dress/ Jacket pattern from Tina Givens made out of linen.

~ I am mellower... ~

The dress underneath is a rendition of the Briare Slip/ Dress pattern also from Tina Givens, made out of broadcloth.

~ art by artist Melaine ~

Graciously received at the World's First 40+ Bloggess Meet-up in Vancouver in July of 2015.  It goes with everything!

~ les sox et shoes ~

Oh, hey, I painted those shoes with some weird-o paints.  Chemtex paints, yeah.  Touted as real metallic finishes with real patinas that oxidize.  So these were painted copper that turned verdigris.  Cool,  Otherwise they were old black plastic.

And now is the time for all good women to join Patti and the Visibles at Not Dead Yet StyleAnd Catherine at I Will Wear What I LikeCherie's Shoe and Tell when it goes live.  I do believe I must have beige in the mix somewhere, so let's hop on over to Anne's 52 Pick-me Up: Beige.  Yeah, Baby.

  1. Yeah baby for sure. Great dress and topper - you have been sneaking in the sewing, eh? Love the painted shoes and lively socks. Thanks for sharing, xo

  2. Stripes. I am full of happiness at the end of a looong work day to see such stripes. And the art piece is swell.

    1. Yes, it took awhile to figure out that striped fabric belonged to that dress. The art piece was part of Melanie's palette originally.

    1. Thanks Norma, although this having no pain isn't bad...

  4. Should I say I am happy that you're drugged out of your mind sufficiently to sew? Heh. Hurrah for sports specialists!

You look fantastic in this outfit with your weird-paint shoes, which I adore. Best upcycle. And thanks for showing me the pendant because I forget that I am capable of doing anything. Whew.

  5. Spring-time perfection! What an ace ensemble. Not sure what a sports specialist is - I tend to give anything with "sport" a wide berth but if she gives you mind bending drugs then that's fine by me. xx

    1. It's something American doctors have come up to make more money, I think.

  7. Love the TG dresses. You're so good with color schemes. I just have to ask "What is the book?". I don't recognize it and I bet I should.

    1. No reason you should. It's called Women in Clothes. I put a link to it if you click on "book" in the first sentence.

They say: Women in Clothes explores the wide range of motives that inform how women present themselves through clothes, and what style really means.

  8. The drugs must be working because you look pretty darn perky! I love all of the little details in this outfit, the little ruffles at the hem and the loopy pockets and the yummy fabric and the shoes!! Own the book? Honey, you could have single handedly written the book!. Healing vibes heading your way. XXOO

  10. Your dress does coordinate beautifully with the book. I contributed to that book, although they only used one quote from me, and went to the book launch in Toronto where I met the editors - I thought it was an excellent read.

    1. I remember you saying that. Perhaps that's why I got the book. It's a great concept and interesting to just pick up and read at any spot - just not as a novel!

  11. You look oh so comfy!
I recently wore my colorful fabric lanyard from the Blogger meetup in Vancouver - I cherish it and look forward to another meetup.

  12. Yuck to pain. Yay to drugs. And how fabulous are you?! Such a great outfit from top jacket to painted shoes and hand painted necklace. I will be smiling at the thought of your ensemble all day long.
