Hug A Tree Dress

~ Hi, you caught me in the act! ~

It was really hot out.  And the air con was not functioning in my room at school, nor do the windows open.

So that shady tree looked real inviting...

~ mmmmm ~

The dress is a lovely cotton print made into Vogue 1400 designed by Guy Larouche.  Basically a shirt dress with a few twists.  Like no buttons, collar or cuffs; a deep front and back slit opening which I raised a bit; cargo-like front chest pockets; and side seam pockets.  Oh and peek-a-boo shoulders which I didn't even notice on the pattern until I started sewing.

~ big pockets for storing chest cargo ~

Nor will you see the peek-a-boos in my pictures either.  Apparently even the photographer missed them.  Ah well.

I made the necklace out of bits and pieces awhile ago.

~ my dragonfly button ~

closing the back slit neckline.  I actually matched the print up somehow or other.

~ bag and shoes, shoes and bag ~

So tasteful, don't ya think?

I'm late, but still making it to Patti and the Visibles at Not Dead Yet Style, Catherine's I Will Wear What I Like, and Cherie's Shoe and Tell.  See you all there!

    1. Hey Patti, Really I'm more of a Sewing Good Enougher (and that's okay).

Nope, the A/C is still not working and they've moved us to another building/room. We'll see in September.

  3. Wowsa! Such a "simple" dress!! I shudder when I think of trying to make it myself. :-) The pattern matching in the back is so wonderfully done. I really love the fabric. You should hang out under trees more often; you look fabulous. xoxoxo

    1. Puleeze Jean, from someone who doesn't even need patterns to sew up a masterpiece. Still, your accolades still thrill...

    1. Wish you could see the unusual shoulder cut-out. I don't think it even shows on the pattern envelope.

      Did you get the email?

Love the details! Wouldn't have looked twice at the pattern, but seeing it sewn up in a playful print has changed my mind!

  8. LOVE this dress. Oh, quite, rather, if I do say, tasteful. I like that you can flash a bit of shoulder when the fancy strikes you as well. Heh. Stellar project and pics.

  9. Sooooo cute. I can see your little slip peeking out. OK. I am officially slip obsessed. This dress is one of those amazing Pao dresses that made me fall in love with you in the first place. The back is gorgeous. And so are you! Front And Back!
