It's About Time

... I came From Out of the Blue

~ it was a cold and dreary day ~

~ but I stood out up to it ~

~ in all Blue, Bay-bee ~

Yeah, well here's some more.

~ now in Black and Blue for a cold, whilst sunny, day ~

~ to do some stealth book borrowing ~

~ I say, isn't that the Tardis? ~

~ unwrapped for brunch ~

~ showing Black and Blue shoes and sox ~

And then some:

~ on yet another day, inside ~

~ with more blue and black shoes and sox ~

Oh, oh, but look what just came in the mail...

~ Hieronymus Bosch, Garden of Earthly Delights, Doc Marten Boots from ebay!! ~

oh. my.

The details:
  • The blue monstrosity is made from a Vogue Issey Miyake pattern 2128 that I enlarged way too much.  Plus it's made out of double knit, which is what it suggested, but no.  yuck.
  • The  BBD (big black dress) is from a free pattern off the internet which also recommended a knit.  I had some black from a mystery bundle and used it.  I added the blue parts (scraps from the Miyake) and also made it a few inches longer.
  • In the first ensemble I'm wearing my fingerless gloves made a la Alabama Chanin.
  • All boots/ shoes are from ebay.
  • All sox are from sockdreams.

More to come another day.  I've been sewing up a storm, I tell you.

  2. You really have found your style, with funky shoes, bright tights/socks and fabrics, and arty shaped tops. I love it!
That first shot with the circle door feature is magic.

  5. Oh, how I wish I still had that Issey Miyake pattern! I lost mine in a move ten years ago and now it is just too expensive to buy on the secondary market. Actually your changes look like they would fit me (I'm 6'2") so I get why you are not happy but the color is stunning! I also have the Big Black Dress pattern from Olu on the blog Needle and Ted. She is part of the team that designed the wildly popular Groove dress pattern. It was work converting to inches, then making it bigger, longer but it is a great pattern....I've made three tunics already.

    1. I got a sweet deal on 4 Miyake patterns for $20 on ebay with only 1 of them being used. Otherwise, they're through the roof. I'd like to make it again, without enlarging it, and in different fabric and see how that works. I do wear the jacket part as a coat.

Have you made the BBD yet?

  6. Oh you look amazing. I'm loving the full blue ensemble. I'm going to have to find myself that Issey Miyake pattern, it's so cool.

And your BBD, so, so good :-)

  8. I love the blue top mixed with the black, am not so crazy about the blue over blue, though. I am a big fan of your shoe style, however. Am really digging the blue suede shoes, bay-bee. I would get miles out of the blue top worn as a jacket. LOVE. IT.

    1. Yea, I like it best as a solo item, jacket only. The skirt is really too big and doesn't look good on its own. Or with anything I have as of yet...

  10. I'm not a fan of the fabric. Very thick and heavy and sort of squishy. I'd like to try again with maybe linen and in a smaller size...

  11. Oh man, I LOOOOVE that black and blue dress - I would wear that all winter!! I have a short version of it in the same shape but with short sleeves. Electric blue and black look brilliant together.

EEEEEEEEEEeeeee - You got the Bosch Docs!!!! I have said it before, but it's worth repeating - you are the QUEEN of finding great footwear on EBAY.

    1. You could totally make this dress, Shelley. It's just 2 seams around the edges. And one size fits just about everyone and its free online. Just click on the link. It doesn't take much fabric either. Just get something with some stretch. hee hee. I want to see what you make. Get jersey stretch bed linens!

I know the Docs are amazing.............wheee.

  12. Woo hoo - a celebration of blue!! And with that star pendant you are definitely the new sheriff in town. Hands up! Hahaha. And the pendant that hangs down to your golden arches is great with this too. So much to love here. I look forward to seeing those new Docs next time.

    1. Hey Melanie! I've been delinquent in traveling around blogland. Heck, in even traveling outside of my house lately.

Next to that sheriff pin is the original 'We Can Do It' pin from one of those world wars. The pendant is a fake ivory carved buddha statuette. yeah. Oh, those Docs, the hell version. I've got everything going for me.

  13. I'm glad I read this, this morning. So I'm not the only discombobulated sewist around...I've sewn so many wadders lately, I was thinking I'd lost my sewing skills! Feeling restless, would like to buy a ton of fabric and just sit in it and meditate...

    1. Glad to be of service, Coco. I was thinking of taking a sewing class, myself. No fabric buying for me since the beginning of the year! My stash is endless.
