Back on Track with Dr. Who Coat

...and Trippens to boot, oh my!   So, let's get it on, shall we?

Those in the know, know, the Dr. Who iconography
~ on the back of my big coat collar ~
I mean there's the tardis, cyborgs, daleks, woo-whee.  A little bit goes a long way.

The whole she-bang
Check out that big 'ole button, man.

Magic made from another Tina Givens pattern
My second Jules coat pattern, modified, of course.  No ruffles, cuffs added, collar reshaped, and not sewed with exposed seams.

And here's the fabric collage I sewed on the inside of the coat where a label would be.
Whatever could it be/ mean?

To see my Back on Track Dress and Dream Trippens, keep on going...

awww,

~ photo bombed by True Love ~

meanwhile
~ good thing the photo's blurry ~

or this dress will knock your eyes out.  If that fails, there's always my pickle kickers...(isn't that what Melaine calls pointy-toed shoes?)

~ whoa ~

It's another pattern from Tina Givens, the Greta dress, which I modified by eliminating the welted pocket and adding two hanging ones instead.  I also raised the neckline, adding a contrast facing on the outside; lengthened the sleeves, adding a contrast trim and pleat with button.  Oh, and I eliminated 20" of skirt width due to the amount of fabric I had available.

~ with pockets to go-go ~

Lastly, here's my Tina Givens Becca coat overlaying everything.  It's corduroy and works well in the overly air conditioned room where the painting class is held.   Too bad you can't see more of it here, it's a lovely design, both front and back.

~ be still my heart ~

Thanks to Elaine, who photo-ed everything.  I wouldn't be here weekly without her!

Dressing Feet First

~ well yeah, when they're Trippens (from ebay, of course) ~

Doesn't everyone?  Start dressing from somewhere with something.  I start with what I'm enamored with at the time.  And work on up (or down, or around) from there.  You never know what you'll end up with.

like this gray granny dress
I made this dress up as I went.  I suppose it looks like it, but I thought it was pretty nifty at the time.

it's really comfy
Oh, and I finally got my hair cut, or trimmed.  I thought it looked amazingly different, but nobody noticed.  It was 6 months since I saw my hair dresser (of 30 years) and she said my hair looked darker!?  She knows I don't do anything to it...

close-up of my button pin, red trim & cute wooden buttons

and here's my gray twill overdress

Making up for lost time, I've been showing 2 pieces each post.   This is called the Peplone Shirt/ Jacket from Tina Givens.  I've made it twice so far with slight alterations.

like that half-belt in the back

Now for the obligatory flasher photo
those are some deep pockets

and I Hong Kong finished all the inside seams.  Never again.  And that's it folks.  Thanks for sticking around during my lulls.  I sure appreciate you.

Big, Baggy and Wrinkled

That's the way I like it.  uhuh, uhuh.  Maybe you have to age into it.  I dunno.  But I luv my linen clothes that way...and since I'm in the same shape/ state, what's not to like?

~ glamor shot in double linen ~

sweeeet

And layering?  Well it just comes naturally.  It was a bit chilly out so I added an underdress, or an overdress...hard to say.

ooo, get your motor running...
twirl-o-rama
ahh, a still at last
Now you can see the gorgeous print.  The floral one is the same style as my previous post - a wrap around based on Simple Modern Sewing.

the big reveal
And the paisley print is a mash-up totally reconfigured from a Park Bench Pattern.

Thanks to you all that responded to my head post with such good vibrations.  It was really appreciated and helpful to boot.  I'll post more about the changes I'm making (or not - maybe they'll just appear).  First up my friend, Elaine, is taking some quick pix of me every Saturday when I have class.  That way I'm sure to get photos for the blog at least once a week.  Thanks Elaine!

Now I'm off to the last party of the Summer at Patti's Not Dead Yet Style for the Visibles.  I wouldn't miss that for the world.  yeah.
