On the Sunny Side of the Street

Me on "Early Morning Sunday" by Edward Hopper.
Okay, here I am, standing on the sun lit street of Hopper's "Early Sunday Morning," casting a long shadow of my own.

To actually see what I'm wearing, view the close up after the break.

Me on Hopper's sunny side of the street.
I'm wearing a made-from-scratch kimono-type lined jacket from pre-Project Minima days, an old store-bought tie-dyed tank top, an old blue flower brooch, a piece of linen/silk fabric wrapped & tied as a skirt, and old cowboy boot-style clogs.

See all the other Hopper inspirations at Style Imitates Art later on Monday 7-16.
I'm joining Monday Mingle and the Visibles at Patti's Not Dead Yet Style for Monday 7-16 too!

  1. This painting always makes me smile inside. Seeing you "in" it is a delight! I love how you make a skirt from a length of fabric - it makes me think I fuss too much about such things : >

    1. It just happened to be the right size of scrap fabric and draped so nicely when I tied it in a knot around my waist! Sometimes things just work...

  2. You did amazingly with this. I love the color in the painting and you obviously have some photoshopping skillz I don't. Very Well done!

    1. Hey Terri, this is so E-Z to do in photoshop, no skills are involved. But...I wouldn't have thought to put these two pieces of clothing together if it wasn't for Hopper's colors!

  3. This makes me SOOOOOOOO happy!
I'm sort of wearing that color story today too.

I did a similar "drape" with drapery, using the giant grommet holes to thread the "tie". Chortled to myself all day over that one.

    1. Oh, I'd like to see a picture of your drapery outfit sometime. Meanwhile I'm coming right over to see what you have going on for today!

    1. I wish. It's a painting by Edward Hopper that I plopped myself into as I was influenced by his colors in selecting my outfit. Many thanks for the compliment, Veshoevius!

  5. Inspiring as usual! Love the colors of the kimono jacket and how you've composed this piece of art.

  6. You've created such a seamless 2D blend of painting and life. I love it. And it's a bit spooky, which I adore. The long shadows. Brilliant post. I also love the kimono you made.
