It's Monday!

And you know what that means...it's showtime at Patti's Not Dead Yet Style for all the Visibles!  Join us and start your week off right!
Here's looking at you, kid!

Check out the details after the break...

I'm wearing my Mom's old sweater that has been mended by me in several places, my made-from-scratch kimono dress as translated from the I Am Cute Dresses Japanese Sewing Book and then altered, houndstooth tights from Sheila's swap, red shoes that have a whole story of their own (no I didn't just buy them, I found them!), and a very old silver pocket necklace that I pinned a gifted beaded ladybug brooch onto.  phew.

Le mystery shoes and new tights from Sheila
Check out all that groovy texture/ shape action going on!

I'm also linking up with others at Monday MingleOkay, for those of you expecting to see me wearing teal for Megan Mae's Fall Fashion Challenge, I mistakenly thought it was starting last Monday and wore my only teal clothing then.  So, all is not lost, just click here to see my teal-wearing post.  Yeah, and since I'm breaking rules, let's link up with Lakota's Ta-Dah Tuesday too.

  3. You found the shoes??? I must hear that story some day. And such great tights, I missed the swap o rama a while back, darn.
I bet you just love wearing that hand me down repaired sweater. I love cozy things like that. I had a favorite sweater once, if you remember those Native American sweaters so popular in the 70's? I took the bus down town in high school and spent all my money on one. Then, being the overly generous person I am sometimes I gave it to someone who looked cold! Now I'm lusting for one again. Maybe a Christmas present to myself this year? We'll see....

    1. It is a story, perhaps for another post. I'm so behind on getting out into the bloghood lately.

Yes, a present for yourself is always a good idea. Actually I think this may be the only sweater I have. I don't really care for them, I have sweatshirt material sweater things, and jackets, vests, etc. No sweaters are too...something...about them...hmm, probably too cozy. snort!

  5. Things I love: the fabric of your kimono dress, how all the colours, textures, and patterns get along, the colour and shape of ladybug echoed by your shoes, the shorter length on you, and that there is a book called "I Am Cute Japanese Sewing Book." Just for starters!

I too am ready for the legend of your shoes!

    1. ooo, Did I say that? It's actually "I Am Cute Dresses," which is probably even better.

Yes, yes, I'll get to it as it's such a defining tale.

    1. Oh Vix, I have to get over there or I'll never catch up to all your get-ups and gad-abouts! Yes, my Docs where abandoned 10-15 years ago and then showed up at the house the other day. It will be part of my series on how the universe provides...

Ooo, you've reminded me, I have to see who's hosting SIA and what the inspiration artwork is for next Monday. Thanks!

  9. I'm a big fan of houndstooth - I like the contrast of the big houndstooth against the softer print of the kimino.

    1. Other than this sweater and the tights, that's the extent of my houndstooth collection. And both were given to me, hmmm.

  10. Wow! I love your ode to checks/herringbone with little touches of red/maroon. The other day, I was momentarily despairing that I'm the only person I know (in real life) who wears really old, mended clothes. So, thanks for making me realize, I'm not alone and help me remember that I'm glad that I'm 'making do.'

    1. No way, I'm so into redoing my old clothes and not buying anything, used or new. Hmmm, do I know any real live people who do that? Well, Frau Fiber...I have friends that sew their own clothes, and others that thrift, and a few that will mend and/or refashion. YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN MAKING DO, MY FRIEND.

  11. I know you have a story behind the shoes. They are quite fabulous with the tights and I'm always happy to see houndstooth incorporated into an ensemble. There you go, brilliantly mixing patterns!

    1. I'm a mix and match-er, alright...in one way or another. I'm gonna getcha, I'm gonna getcha, getcha, getcha. opps, sorry. I luv that song.

  12. So does that mean I can wear my teal next week and get away with it? I mean, is time really relevant, you know? Dude, I think it's highly overrated. Just go with it, man. Teal today or tomorrow. I'll take houndstooth today.

    1. Okay, so you know I'm a little scattered. You FOUND THOSE DOCS?!!! WHY CAN'T I FIND MINE?!!! What's your secret? I had a cherished pair in the early 80's. Oh.... they're probably in my ex-husband's basement.... Duh. Oh well, they're probably mildewed by now. What's that Aesop's fable about sour grapes? Some stories, just like Docs, are timeless.

    2. Yea man, it's all relative, like you are me and we are all together. Did you do any teal today, man?

My Doc story is a little like yours, only with a happy ending.

Yea, especially after I tossed them 10-15 years ago.

  15. I love the shapes, prints, and textures of this outfit. The kimono dress is so amazing. Some of the most incredible DIY's I've ever seen have been revamped kimono. My favorite kimono refashion was of one of the black ones with the pattern on the bottom remade into a beautifully cut long men's "suit" jacket.

    1. I love the kimono style too. Of course I pretty much eliminated that look when I donned the sweater - ah, what we do for fashion...

  17. Are those almost-naked-knees I see? Clad in fabulous tights? With FREE footwear? It couldn't get any better except you have thrown in the houndstooth and hand-made and ladybug... The mesh and the bug and tooth are wild. That's why the artists get the big bucks - do they?... Hm. Love this, Pao.

    1. You got that right Melanie. Er...except for the big bucks part. Can I quote you on that?

  21. Pao, I'm really sorry I'm so late here - but that is really such a great outfit! Your cardigan is lovely, and very classic! I love the tights of course, and the lovely necklace you've created here!

Also, you really do have great legs!

    1. No problemo with "lateness" - who's keeping time?! Yes, you are the tights woman. Oh can you believe it, once upon a time I had one of those over the door shoe pocket hanger thingys. And in it I kept all my colored tights in color wheel order. And one day I decided I didn't want to wear colors anymore and I donated them all to Sal. Army!!!!!!!!! I regret it daily. Now these are the only "wild" pair I have...sniff.
