Well, the components of the blase outfit are: an old dark denim blazer that I've never worn, an old off-white gauze & lace p.j. top, refashioned pearls with double dinos, a made-from-scratch cotton floral pegged skirt, and old tan shoe boots. I would not wear this particular combo out and about, but I am wearing it for Style Imitating Art which goes live on Tuesday. Check out what others have styled this time around!
Meanwhile I'm going to go as I am to Patti's Not Dead Yet Style, or I might not make it at all! At least I'll be surrounded by knock-out visionaries. And maybe I can get lost in the crowd at Monday Mingle. We'll see.

ahh...I feel so much better now.
The soft shade of denim and faded/soft florals are beautiful together. For someone claiming to be ho-hum, you rocked it!

I'm very in love with the shape of that skirt. This looks like the perfect thing to sit in the spring sun outside a cafe and sip some tea from a far away place and dream. It does capture the dreamy quality of the painting too.

Yes, I love the skirt too, it's the ensemble that sucks. That's it, I'm going to post a mix-up of how I do wear it for comparison. I do like your dream sequence though...

DeleteYour skirt is anything but sew-sew. In fact, if this is your definition of blase, how could you classify most people on the street? Primordial ooze? - but in a good way! I think the choice of painting, with flowers falling apart, is what put you in the blahs. Did it?

DeleteI think this outfit is beautifully put together, but the overall effect is somewhat demure. Pao, you consistently surprise and delight me, and it's okay not to sometimes! Gak! I really, really love that skirt.
ReplyDeleteIt's that @#%! denim blazer. Ultra conservative. But I needed something dark for the painting. I'm sure I could've come up with something better if I wanted to spend more time getting dressed and undressed! The skirt is great.
DeleteNo reason why you shouldn't wear it, figure- and colorwise. It hits you in all the right places and the bloominess of the skirt is tempered by the short solid jacket. But then, maybe it is not just "you".

DeleteActually I love this and think you could wear it out perfectly fine - I love the way the serious blazer contrasts with the floral skirt and I absolutely LOVE that skirt!!

DeleteOk, I didn't see anything wrong with outfit #1. I liked it. Then I saw outfit #2, and realized how low I had set my bar. I LOVE the second one- it works, it blossoms.

ReplyDeleteI spent a lot of hours this week working on the SIA, and was too late to get it in. Sweet Jess said she'd squeeze it in late when time permits. Nice of her. But it's at my site ... very big, not quite finished, but there anyway. And doesn't Val look wonderful in her inspired state!
