Oh, and I'm wearing a bunch of all mostly refashioned stuff. Sandals painted by moi, old pants turned into skirt, old thrifted maxi dress made into underskirt, found shirt refashioned to fit, and very old big dress worn as duster(?).
The dancing pattern made me laugh out loud. I love it!

I like the way you have reinvented those clothes for a completely different look. I am trying to do that for Me Made May but life has rather got in the way of thinking about clothes at the moment.
It still makes me smile.

ReplyDeleteI really need to read up on painting shoes. I bought a pair of vintage Fluevogs and they are a lovely design, but they are suede and darkish brown. I want them to be bright and vibrant and funky as they deserve!
Go for it, Megan. Maybe try it out on some junky shoes first, if you want to practice. It's no big deal really. And you can always paint over if you don't like what you've done.
DeleteDefinitely. I'm just hoping to avoid cracking/peeling. I'm wondering if suede will be a bane or a boon in this situation. I think it'll grab the paint well, but may become stiff. Ah well, it will certainly be a fun project to play with.
DeleteMany of the ones I painted were suede and it worked fine. They didn't become stiff, peel or crack. I used acrylic paint I had on hand and actually just put it on with my finger because I wanted to rub it in and not have brush strokes. That way it didn't go on too thickly either. I also mixed colors on the shoes while the paint was still wet and that worked well too.
DeleteOoh, thanks for the hints! I have a vintage pair of Birkenstocks that need upgrading and was wondering if it was worth it. No harm done if it doesn't work because I haven't worn them in quite some time anyway.

ReplyDeleteYour outfit is dead on, as always. Did I understand you correctly - this is not something you'd wear out? I think the orange underskirt flashing from the pant skirt is genious. Not knowing you of course, but still I'd say it looks very 'you'.
Yea, it's one of those looks good for the painting only outfits. But your ensemble was especially lovely AND fitting for the painting.

DeleteWow, so "new" sizing has a size16 at a 38 bust and 29 waist! In my dreams!!! I love the outfit, though. How you got her to boogie all night long is a mystery to me, but then again, I am getting older (and wider). Some things just elude me.
