WHO AM I WEARING, You Ask?

~ I'm wearing an original Mel/ Mz. Baggs creation ~

I hope she doesn't mind that I altered it a bit to fit, then added some bits and pieces here and there, you know, because I could.  I thought of it as a collaboration even though it maybe wasn't technically.  But that's what I'm saying anyway.

~ the ensemble complete ~
There was no way that tiny black silk top was gonna fit me as is, but luckily it had three 1" tucks on each side.  So I opened them up from the bust down, which added more than enough width for me to wear it.  I was like, this will look so cool with those transparent trousers I just made.

~ I was a hit in class today ~
But you know, a short crop top over transparent pants, uh, nah.  Adding another layer of transparency was just the ticket and I had exactly enough left over from the pants.  So I zig-zagged that baby around the hem of the top.  Poifect.  Then I needed a little something on top of the top for better proportions.  On went another bit of scrap around the sleeve hem.

I'm wearing some old suede clogs that I had spilled salsa on. I covered the mess with roses cut from Mom's old sweatshirt.

~ say goodbye Mz Baggs ~
Mz Baggs covered with a piece of black netting in an attempt to look more mysterious...

  1. Yah-uh you were a hit! This is insanely clever. I seriously think Melanie's makes come with some sort of magic....to be used only for good, of course!

  2. This. Is. Magic!!!!!
I love the transparent fabric...did you sew all the flowers??!
And all your additions including the scribble machine embroidery and the black net over Ms Baggs. It all tells a beautiful story.
It also looks cool for Summer! And I love printed baggy pants at the moment :-) And I love the way you've brought back the green in the shoes. I need me some transparent fabric now! Xo Jazzy Jack

    1. The flowers were already sewn willy-nilly onto the black netting when I bought the fabric! And the scribble neon machine embroidery was all Melanie. All I did was take out the tucks on the top and add the flowered netting to the top. Oh, and put a veil over Mz. Baggs for some added drama.

  3. Hands clapping - for the upcycling and for the photos! I love what you've done here. Yes! Hurrah for hidden tucks. I had forgotten about those. Everything now is just right, including your shoes. The netting is an inspired idea, perfect for the creation. I am a huge fan of transparent pants. I have purple ones somewhere around which I must dig out.

    1. Yes indeed, the tucks were perfectly placed and ready for any alterations needed, easy as pie. What an eye you have Melanie. Anne's top/ dress was perfect for her too. Now let's see some more transparent pants. A trend perhaps?

Notice my photos are still big, even though they're blurry...

  4. Fantabulous! You look bangin' and rockin' and any other -in' that is good. How about smokin'? I will not be wearing any transparent pants anytime soon so I say you just go ahead and wear some on my behalf, okay? Sorted! xoxo

    1. ahhh, never say never Shawna. Maybe just for lounging around the house to start. They're very cool and comfortable, and no wrinkles! Really mine are camouflage transparent pants anyway, kinda hide-and-seek like.

  5. Fabulous refashion! Your ensemble is a total pao/Mel mashup of the best sort. And I love what you did with the shoes too.

BTW your photos are sized just fine on my netbook's screen.

  6. So I left a comment but apparently it ended up in the trash bin at Dairy Queen and since I'm old I can't remember exactly what I said but it was something about how much I LOVE this outfit. And I might have to copy it in some form. Or something like that. Anyway. I loved seeing you in your element gavotting around Vancouver. Thank you so much for welcoming me back to Blogsylvania.

    1. Oh I hate when that happens and only when I'm ever so clever too. I'm sure you'll come up with a more sophisticated rendition, Connie. Can't wait to see it.

  8. I was so jealous of everyone that got Melanie originals. I love the way you've added your own spin. That is what a creative mind does best right?

    1. Hope you're feeling better Suzanne. Hey, I got Melanie, Sue and Suzanne originals. What's better than that?! As far as Mel's black silk top, it was more mother of invention than creativity - - it didn't fit as is, ya know.

  9. What a fab collaboration! Your creativity with fabric just shines in the alterations you made to the Mel-designed top.

    1. Collaborating is so much fun, rather than starting with a blank slate, so to speak. And even if the other person doesn't know it's a collaboration...

  11. Wow you are all so good with the sewing machine. I got an orange and white striped T-shirt from Melanie with Mz. Baggs on it and I am wearing it as I type this. Totally different from you, but hey, we adjust to our style don't we?
I can understand you were a hit in class.

    1. Hey Greetje! Oh, do we get to see a pix of you wearing a Mz. Baggs original? Maybe throw it together with those dark and white leggings with the matching Fluevogs...mmmmm.
