It was a lovely day, weather-wise. And I'm wearing one of the last of a series of tablecloth dresses I made based on Marcy Tilton's French house dress pattern, Vogue 8813. In fact, this series really took off on Pinterest last year or so when I started them. Something like 5,000 pins each... And I didn't even have a pinterest page or whatever.

This was one of the few (only?) that used one tablecloth for the entire dress. All the others combined at least 3 to make a dress and that was the fun part - auditioning cloths to see which ones worked best together.

And it's so nice to bring them all out every summer. Loverly old linen dresses that can be thrown in the wash and come out looking even better than ever. Somehow I never got around to getting this one photo-ed with me in it. So here we are. Thanks Sara.

DeletePerfect! I love that particular green, and the way that the flower placement is somewhat but not entirely symmetrical. This dress does look so lovely to wear.

ReplyDeleteMe too. It's #7 in the series. I made many more dresses, tops and pants from tablecloths. But just 7 dresses from that particular pattern.

I bet those tablecloth dresses are sooo comfortable to wear in the summer! The pattern is so pretty, and you've added just enough details to give it a nice shape.
ReplyDeleteI would have never known those were Crocs if you hadn't mentioned it. Who knew they made shoes that weren't Godawful ugly?
I know. Not only that, but these are the most comfy shoes I own. Springy even. And they're pale pink with tree prints.
DeleteThe dress is straight from the pattern. Well, it said it was for knits only. nah. And I made a much smaller size than indicated (how often does that happen?) Oh, and I raised the waistline some. I think that's it.
Such a Springy colour! I love old tablecloths and once they've been washed and dried they look even better! Great job.
