Out of the House Dress

and into the back yard

~ do notice the weed garden on both sides of the boardwalk ~

~ mystery vine doing well along the homemade fence ~

I'm wearing a stretch mesh dress mucho modified from Anna Sui Vogue 1217 pattern.  Like it's longer by a mile with added pockets and length to the itty bitty cap sleeves.

Accoutrements include my Mom's chiffon leopard chiffon neckerchief, Mom's metal bracelet, my mauve Coach purse from the neighborhood yard sale, my old mauve anklets and my ebay Tarantula Trippen sandals.

~ matchy-matchy ~

On another day,
just 3 doors down the street,

 same dress, different accessories

~ you can see my house, just through the trees, the reddish brick one  ~

~ at one with the church ~

~ I luv being symmetrical ~

It's so iconic, don't you think?  Anyway, you probably can't see it well, but one of the necklaces I have on is made from my old reading glasses.  Let's see, I think there's about 7 of them linked together.  It's great when going to a restaurant and needing to read the menu.

~ ye olde ebay shoes ~

And now it's time to skedaddle over to Patti and the Visibles at Not Dead Yet Style.  Then Catherine's I Will Wear What I Like and Cherie's Shoe and Tell when they go live.  See you there.

  1. Love both pairs of shoes! I can relate to your weed garden and mystery vine! Sometimes those unknown plants do a fine job when a more "famous" plant wouldn't cover the fence as quickly or as efficiently. I would rather see green weeds than brown dirt.

  2. Your neighborhood looks so charming. And so does your new dress, love the longer hemline. And the weed garden! I miss that from our days in the cottage. Mother Nature always rules. xox

    1. Yes, the no fuss weed garden. Although it does get mowed with one of those old-fashioned push mowers from time to time.

  4. What a nice vibe - and I also love your neighborhood! So - are Trippens comfy? I really like yours and Marge's (Fool for Fabric).

    1. Trippens are comfortable and the leather is so soft. They're way too expensive, even on ebay, but once in awhile a pair shows up in my size and price range.

  5. Forgot to add - I'm digging the green bit of nature on the porch and deck. I have some of that myself - 'mold' doesn't sound honorable enough, anything in my garden tends to be tolerated if not treasured!

    1. Yes, mold and weeds are as green as my 'garden' grows. No, wait, there are some sort of purply-blue flower that comes up every Spring, but I don't know what they are. Nothing like you island paradise garden, Coco.

  6. A weed is a misplaced perennial. You have no weeds, you have water thrifty greenery.
I have yards of similar mesh, no idea why, and now have a better idea of what to do with it.
And Trippens are comfy. Birkenstock comfy (stiff footbed) but come in a whole lot more styles. The sizes vary from the different footbed styles (I'm a 38 in some, a 39 in other) and they are hard to find locally (there's a retailed in Seattle but her shoes are years old and no restocking in sight). So Ebay is your best choice.

    1. Good to know about the greenery.
I have so much mesh, luv the stuff to sew and to wear.
Hey we wear the same size in Trippens (they do vary according to style it seems). Haven't try the Birkenstock.

  7. So flattering - you look like you might just float away in front of the church.
Love the glasses idea - don't thnk my life will be complete until I've got one of my own!

    1. You mean an ascension?!
I should've taken a close-up of the glasses necklace. I actually have 2 necklaces made of them. I use eyeglass holders for the part that goes around the neck. As I go up in strength, the weaker ones go into necklaces. Not to mention the ones that break...

    2. Yes ascending - far more elegant and appropriate.
Love to see a close-up of the necklace...hoping that those boxes of old glasses that used to sit abandoned behind op shop counters still exist.

  8. Does the dress have a lining? It's a very pretty colour, and of course you have the perfect shoes to accessorize it!

    1. No, I don't line my stretch mesh pieces. I wore the slip I made to wear with my champagne & coral dress https://projectminima.blogspot.com/2016/08/champagne-and-coral-dress.html
I love wearing slips and making them, so I have many choices that have different effects. heehee.

  10. I LOVE the look of your neighborhood!! It's fun to see you in situ, as well. You look wonderful in your dress and the gladiator-esque trippens are magnificent. I haven't had a ton of time to sew but hopefully next week I can. Inspiring as always. xoxoxo

  11. Mauve gauze is gauzegeous (!) in front of a sea of green.
Nice to see two different approaches to the one dress.
