Watch Me Now Ensemble

MeMadeMay'18, Day #19

Here's some posters of me walking the backyard runway.

~ behind the scenes ~

Now for the business part.  The dress is a flop from the Park Bench Willow Grove Pattern.  I modified the heck out of it as it came out as a gigantic sack. And you know I like oversized clothes.  The fabric is printed linen.

Because I don't especially care for the dress on its own, I keep trying different things over it.  This time, I'm wearing my version of the Sewing Workshop's Veranda Dress which came about through a complicated mind-melding process of the pattern and my pinterest pin seen here.   If you just can't get enough, you can see/read the post here.

With all that said and done,  I don't think this ensemble is a roaring success, but it isn't a flaming flop either.  It's okay.  The coral dress is still seeking something.

  1. Gee, I don't know. I think it's terribly special. Not sure what this outfit could possibly need.

    1. Well, thanks for your thoughtfulness, Virginia. I agree, the ensemble doesn't need anything more. It's just that the coral dress wants something else...instead.

  2. Hm. I have a STACK of Park Bench Patterns, purchased from the designer at various years of SewExpo in WA St. Never cracked one.
You aren't helping with your description, but if I ignore the words, this is fab and I want one, want to be the person who wears this. I'm stuck on a make right now, and while I don't think this is the exact answer, it's getting me to ask myself some questions that will get me there. Now I'm sorry I didn't take photos of Em's sleeve armor tattoo this morning at breakfast to share. Both are fierce and wonderfully stunning.

    1. I have a stack, well a little stack, of Park Bench Patterns too. This is the only one I've made thus far. It doesn't look anything like it. I pleated up the sleeves on both side seams because they were so wide and long. I pleated the bottom hem too, to make it come in more like a balloon hem. It's just too shapeless to wear on its own. Do tell/show what you're stuck on at the moment.

  3. I like the long vest over the dress. You're right, the dress needs something. I'm a fan of oversized pieces as well, but unless they have some sort of unusual detail, or I wear them over/under something else, it can feel like I'm wearing a nightdress to work.

    1. Exactly! In fact, I did wear just the dress to work one day and someone did remark I was wearing my nightgown! Fancy that.

  4. You don't think it's a roaring success? I beg to differ, I'm in love! xxx

  5. Maybe an embellished bib could be added to the dress? I love that overgarment and remember being entranced by your post describing its conception. I am also delighted by the pairing of said overgarment with those shoes - and the matching dress and socks beneath. Fabulous!

    1. ah, that's an idea. I even have a faux leather strappy bib-like thing in my pinterest harness 'accessories to make' board. hmmm. yeah, I was surprised how well ankle sox worked with the strapped shoes in this case. Thanks Radostin.
