The Mystery of THE Golden Boots

~ painting by Mike Worrall ~

Coming up, what I wore to school on Saturday with THE boots.  Everything goes with 'em.  The silly excuse the e-bayer gave for selling them was she hadn't a clue of what to wear with golden boots - puleeze.  Well actually, thank goodness, because they're on MY feet now.  Yeah baby!   I'm rocking 'em with my lagenlooking.  Check it out after the break...

Who me?!
Can you guess how many visible layers pao has on?
a)  1 -  it's a dress!
b)  2 layers - hardly lagenlook
c)  3 layers
d)  4 or more layers - more like homelesslooken

All the clothes I'm wearing have been refashioned, except for the boots, of course.  The Asian-esque top, the fringed tunic, the gaucho pants, and my big fishnets came from tights I cut into stockings to fit.  (click on the bold items to see when and how they came to be)   I recently made the stuffed cat pin out of something I found, but haven't taken a proper pic of it yet.  patience.

Meanwhile I'm joining the gang of Visibles at Patti's Not Dead Yet StyleMonday Mingle, the Pleated Poppy, Marionberry Style

  4. Don't you just love clueless folk? No idea what to wear with boots? Duh! Clothes!
Dim wits aside you look gorgeous, love the boots and I'm going for four layers although you don't look remotely homelesslooken more like fabulous-with-killer-bootsen! x

    1. I like the fabulous-with-killer-bootsen looken, Vix. I think that's a style you regularly pull off to great effect. Although technically speaking, I am doing a 3-layer caken-looken today.

  5. Gold boots - they're at the top of my footwear wishlist! Gold go with everything, everything! How lucky for you, they're fantastic, the gaucho pants are just the right length for the boots to shine!

Your Asian inspired top is gorgeous too. And I'd like to have a look at the stuffed cat pin soon!

    1. Golden years, whop, whop, whop... Go Gold, Go Gold. Yea! Oh my - all the associations. ahem.

It's so easy to get dressed now, from my feet on up.
One cat pin will be coming up soon + some other cool jewels.

  6. What don't you wear with gold boots? I mean jeez! They're fantastic. I really need to hunt down some gaucho pants for layering with dresses. Maybe when spring comes around they'll show back up in my goodwill. Sometimes ebayers are clueless, but at least they're releasing the cute stuff back onto the market.

I still kick myself for reselling a pair of yellow boots. I bought them when I was too scared to wear much color. Now I want them back! I do know they went to a good home with a fabulous girl though.

    1. You could always make some gauchos out of yoga pants maybe...or some other wide leg kind of pant.

Perhaps you could contact the yellow boot girl and see if she's tired of them?!

    2. I'll keep a look out! I may just start layering dresses over regular pants if it stays as cold as it is.

  7. PS I'm sorry the Trippen auction didn't work out, I lose most auctions. I highly suggest checking out sale sections of PedShoes and GravityPope and the international side of ebay.

    1. shhhh. I'm trying to reform. But since you mentioned it. Don't you have to deal with custom fees, et. al. on international sellers? Anyway, they've all been too expensive.

    2. Unless it's over a certain amount. Personally, I've never had to pay customs/duty on international orders, not even the (cough)370?(cough) Happy boots. I think the limit is $400 if you live in the US.

Honestly if I knew you would fit my size boots, I'd consider selling mine. I can't wear them as much as I had hoped. My knees are just too bad/painful.

    3. Really?

I went up to $80 for my golden boots and $100 for the Trippens that I didn't get. They ended up going for $250+ during the last 2 minutes. As much as I like them I would never pay that much.

Ok, so what's your shoe size? Mine is 7 1/2 or 8.
      It's like a drug.

    4. Aw, I have a tiny size 6 foot. I'd be happier sending them to a good known blogger for a lower price, but I'm probably going to see if they'll sell on ebay and hopefully make enough back to purchase some other dream boots that don't have heels.

The Trippens are mighty pretty to look at but I need wearable pound-the-pavement footwear. Someday I may be able to get away with keeping artistic pairs of shoes, but not today!

$80 is a good price for Vogs. That's about how much I spent on my black fluevogs if I recall correctly.

    5. Just as well for both of us... So the Trippen boot isn't comfortable? I don't wear heels, but thought they didn't look high because of the platform. Do they run true to size? My golden boots are nice and roomy at a size 7 1/2. Where I usually take an 8 in boots generally. My goodness we have a chain letter going here!

    6. I think for the average person they would be very comfortable. But any shoes that make my feet tip forward when I walk put a lot of stress on my knees and they tend to ache. The boots are very easy to walk in, but for me the balance just wasn't right.

I do a lot of walking most days, which is why I've really latched onto the Cydwoq brand. Even my brand new pairs have been great for all day wear.

It's kind of been a struggle figuring out I can handle, but I am really grateful to have found a lot of cool and comfortable shoes in the process.

I'd say they run TTS or possibly small in the Happy family. My Trippen Army from the Cups family runs large, but the others fit like a 6.

I think a 38 might fit you best if you're looking out for a pair, but you might be able to get away with a 39 and thick socks. I could have easily sized up to a 37 with no problems.

I find Fluevogs typically run larger in most 'families', especially boots.

I'm always happy to talk shoes! I've bought and resold a lot of pairs in the past couple of years. You'd be surprised to know I have under 20 pairs these days!
