As the new year opens, I want to acknowledge the wonderful friends who have sent fantastic fabric and fabulous frockery my way.

The gang from the Sewing Rebellion had decided to give each other thrifted or hand-made gifts this holiday season. It was a blast! And we're already thinking about next year.

It's very large, but I wear it anyway. The top has a full length detachable zipper so it can be worn backwards as a jacket too.

Each is more luscious than the next. I haven't been able to make up my mind on what to make from which piece yet. That's my totem on top, resting, guarding, blessing them all.

ReplyDeleteI know, I couldn't believe how wonderful each piece was and how they were so like me. The vest reminded me of ties with that trim along the front and sides/back. It seems like it would be really easy to make. The sides are just two rectangles with patch pockets at the bottom and you can see how the back and front are also rectangles of cloth.

And we'll get to see who's wearing what from our fabulous gift exchange! Then again, if I was a world traveler like yourself, I could be visiting all my blogger friends just like that! I'm afraid to cut into that gorgeous fabric sent my way from Ms. Melanie. I'll have to work up to it.

ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes! Now that you mention it, that totem does remind me a little of you. I'll have to get a better shot of her. She's wearing a multi-colored metallic thread mini and has a feather sticking out of her head. And she's always twirling around on one foot.

ReplyDeleteYes, yes I do. I'm thinking something kimono-esque for the golden-orange brocade type fabric on the bottom. And something with an exposed detachable zipper on the sheer fabric with gold raised dots (second one down). Other than that, I don't know exactly.
