Tulle Time & OMG I Bought Something

Well I don't have any, tulle that is, nor do I have a tutu, ballerina outfit, can-can slip or the like.  The closest thing I can come up with is all these pantaloons I've been making with organza and lace.  Does that count?

Here's to all my sistah bloggers who have transcended time and space in tutus on stairs with tea!  If you don't know what the #@% I'm talking about, Miss Simmonds deliciously spells it out with pictures and links in her post, I am doll parts.

Please remember, I'm doing the best that I can with what I've got...drumroll...

ta-dah!
Yeah, I know.  What a let down compared to all the other groovy ladies.  But let me tell you, try putting on multiple layers of pantaloons sometime, yeah.

Maybe if you let me say a bit about the pieces I can get extra credit for effort.

The black transparent top worn over my black Grecian goddess slip, white transparent pants, with peach bloomers underneath, and both pair of stockings cut from tights (I just couldn't decide which ones to wear) are made by me.  (If you click on the bold item you'll see when and how them came about).

The pearl collar is my Mom's.
you can't see it in pic above cuz my tea cup covers it (drat)

The fortune teller's tea cup was a gift long ago.
"Perchance this cup will show your future"
your fortune awaits in the tea leaves!

The scarf used as shawl is from a street vendor in NYC 30+ years ago.  And the boots are from ebay, received yesterday.  Yes, it's true, I confess.  I bought something, omg, I am suffering tremendous guilt... (Project Minima is about not buying apparel, new or used, which I hadn't done my first year and I am was 5 months into my 2nd year) and tremendous pleasure because they fit perfectly and look the coolest in a soft gold color!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Believe it or not, dressed as I am, I'm joining others at the Pleated Poppy today
and Ta-Dah Tuesday sounds like a good idea too!

  1. I love your feet here the most! They made me smile, you disheveled creative stylish ballerina misfit you! haha Hope you don't take offense to my description. This really would make an awesome painting subject. You should do a self portrait painting of this!

  2. Hugz, Pat, you deserve them wondrous bootz! I love your whole outfit. That's the best beaded collar I've ever seen, way better than what's in stores now. I must figure out this tulle and teacup thing. Unfortunately, we don't get much use for tulle at the office :p That's probably th' point, tho'...

    1. eeee!
I had several beaded collars of Mom's, each completely different in design. One bit the dust (actually I used it in a fabulous piece of artwork), and the other just needs a little TLC.

Weren't you wishing for a petticoat, Lynne? Now's your chance to show it off!

  3. Extra credit for sure! I love your stockings in this. Your whole interpretation of the tulle/tutu/teacup is stellar, a unique twist from an gifted artiste. Gloat, gloat, gloat over those fabulous shoes. You are allowed to stray. The fact that these boots fit perfectly is a sign. Very cool collar. I'm glad you included the closeup.

    1. You are the ballerina of my dreams, Melanie (except for maybe the one in my jewelry box that goes 'round & 'round). While there is no comparison, in homage I'm on the bottom stairs while you are aptly the one at the top. (see your photo!)

And thanks for the dispensation re the boots. I surely need it.

    1. Aren't they all wunderbar?! Mine is so paltry in comparison, but hey, that's what I got, man. I'm not a tulle girl, okay? I just don't have my hands on the material and after spending money on unnecessary boots I really can't justify going out and buying tulle for goodness sake! just saying.

I do appreciate the good grades for effort though, thanks!

  7. I adore the sheer pants with the fishnets peeking through them. I was obsessed with ballerinas growing up -despite being a total tomboy.

    Also really cool boots!

    1. Well, if anyone was gonna appreciate my new boots, it would totally be you Megan Mae! In fact, I think it's your fault - totally!

    2. Aww! I'll totally take the blame. <3 especially if it's for cute boots.

  8. Pao, you've just taken a huge weight off my shoulders. YOU'RE HUMAN!! YOU BOUGHT BOOTS!! They are perfect boots, too. They will go with everything you create, absolutely. The stockings are freakin' fabulous, as is your demeanor. I totally missed the tulle party, but I'm glad you were there!! Have a cup for me, will ya?

    1. I wore them for the first time this evening and someone asked me if I lost weight! woohoo. Now that's what I call some perfect boots.

And by the way, I don't think there's any time limit on participating in the tutu party, Jean...

    3. For only $173 plus shipping too. I guess it better be a DIY. But I think it's for you, as I don't wear heels. A great idea for ones that have been scuffed up badly. Thanks Jean!

  9. I am really loving seeing all the interpretations of Melanie's look - it's a true meme now! Those boots are fabulous, as is your teacup. I'm really not a one for photographs of myself - they make me massively uncomfortable - but I am so tempted to cobble something together myself...

  10. Tulle pantaloons! How cool is that! I love that pearl collar by the way - what a lovely memento of your mother. Think its fab you joined in the tulle crew in your own individual way!

    1. Actually I'm tulle-less, my pantaloons are made from organza. But it's close enough to play along I think.

  11. What wonderful magic boots! If one must "break the seal" - best to do it properly, as you have! Your version of tulle-and-teacup is absolutely fantastic. I am really loving all of the stories of the objects our ballerinas have gathered. Your collar and fortune-teller cup are treasures.

    1. Yes, another boot-appreciater you are, Amber. And if I was still doing the blame game, I would point my finger at you, too (I already did Meagan Mae) and say it was all your fault that I succumbed to those magic boots. But alas, or at last!, it is my wishes I have followed and the golden boots are now mine, all mine, yesss my little precioussss...

  12. Pao- you have inspired me! I love this tulle and tea party movement but thought I couldn't take part- I don't have a tulle skirt- but you fit right in, and so I know I must find something similar to share. You look wonderful, and how I love the idea of see-thru pantaloons. xo-Bella Q

    1. Yes Bella you simply must! Being tulle-less can't stop us renegade ballerinas out there from partying down with the tutu-tea set. yeah.

I know, see-thru pantaloons, kind of an oxymoron...or at least risque.
