Okay then. I've got on the newly made really baggy pants, the painted violet mary janes, the refashioned to fit sheer lined shirt and reversible dusty pink vest. To see more about the bold item's where and whatnot, click it and find out.

ReplyDeleteOh!! I've been wanting to know about your painted shoes! I know you said acrylic, any suggestions on brand or technique? Does it flake off at all? Did you use any sealant or prep before painting? I really want to add some blue distressing to my grey Trippen boots. I miss colorful shoes.
I just used the acrylic paint I had on hand. No particular brand, but I rubbed it in with my finger rather than using a brush so it looked more natural. I didn't use it thickly and didn't use sealant before. I used it afterward if I wanted them to be shiny, shiny. Then I used acrylic gloss medium. You can put it on thinly, one coat at a time, letting each dry, of different blues for instance, and each will show through the other. Experiment on something that's a similar base color if you want first. Interference acrylics react interestingly, especially when painted on dark surfaces. My violet shoes are interference violet over dark brown shoes. But in a picture it's hard to see.

ReplyDeleteIt should be currently available. I did find it nearly impossible to figure out how to put it together since it's not the usual pattern pieces for pants. And my fabric was so stretchy droopy it was like goop or something working with it. But I guess it turned out alright in the end...
DeleteHere's what the Winged Victory of Samothrace would have worn had pants been the dress of the day. There really is a heroic quality to these, and it takes a real woman to pull it off. As you do! They really are beautiful.

DeleteDancing is on of my favorite activities and these pants are definitely worthy of some serious moves. And perfect for a birthday celebration. But then the entire outfit has energy for the dance floor! Always brilliant!

DeleteYour outfit is fun, fun, fun. The pants are fabulous. Not sure I could carry them off with the panache that you do; but I find them inspiring just the same. The shoes are very cool. I had an unfortunate experience with painting a pair of shoes that were destined for goodwill. I think I put the paint on too thick, and it just cracked off. You have some good tips here, and I may give it another try.

I've not had any of my painted shoes crack - and I've done a lot of them on all sorts of surfaces (leather, canvas, suede, pleather). The only time I've had anything crack or peel was when I just used glitter on some pleather combat boots. That was kind of a mess. But acrylic paint, no problem.
