yeah, baby |
Oh wait, I think I have an undistorted, relatively speaking, picture of me wearing 'em. hmmm. Yes, yes, here it is. Oh my. I look like a sculpture done in marble - or at least the pants do.
See it after the break!

Okay then. I've got on the newly made really baggy pants, the painted violet mary janes, the refashioned to fit sheer lined shirt and reversible dusty pink vest. To see more about the bold item's where and whatnot, click it and find out.
Think I'll head over to Patti's Not Dead Yet Style early and the join the crowd at Monday Mingle too.
I am mad for those pants, MAD for them!
ReplyDeleteI could just see you swimming in them, Lynne.
DeleteThose pants are so amazing that I can't breathe. I'll have to revive myself with some spiked punch. Party-perfect!
ReplyDeleteBelieve me, there's nothing tight about these pants, Amber. There's plenty of breathing room available.
DeleteWhee! Thanks so much, Pat! Agreeing with Lynne, I am wild for those pants. If I saw a pair, I'd want to buy them asap. I wish I could find nicely draped things that didn't swallow me.
ReplyDeleteOh!! I've been wanting to know about your painted shoes! I know you said acrylic, any suggestions on brand or technique? Does it flake off at all? Did you use any sealant or prep before painting? I really want to add some blue distressing to my grey Trippen boots. I miss colorful shoes.
I just used the acrylic paint I had on hand. No particular brand, but I rubbed it in with my finger rather than using a brush so it looked more natural. I didn't use it thickly and didn't use sealant before. I used it afterward if I wanted them to be shiny, shiny. Then I used acrylic gloss medium. You can put it on thinly, one coat at a time, letting each dry, of different blues for instance, and each will show through the other. Experiment on something that's a similar base color if you want first. Interference acrylics react interestingly, especially when painted on dark surfaces. My violet shoes are interference violet over dark brown shoes. But in a picture it's hard to see.
DeleteThanks! I'll give it a try, maybe on a pair of thrifted shoes or something first. This is definitely on my list of projects for this year.
DeleteOoh! Love those pants! So fun.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm with Megan Mae - inquiring minds want to know more details on shoe painting, please.
Hey Louisa, hope you're feeling better. You can also find more info on my painting of shoes if you click on shoes under labels. But that's about all there is to it.
DeleteFabulous pants and attire.
ReplyDeleteYou always look to me like a timeless painting with your wonderful ensemble and creations, dear pao.

Aw shucks, Sacramento, you are too kind.
DeleteYup, you've done it again. The pants are genius. Can I please have a tutorial? I've got some idea of how you might have created them, but I'd love to hear you explain it. Oh. Maybe I should click on your link for them? Sorry if I'm a little slow. Okay, I'll be back .....heading over there now.
ReplyDeleteYeah, look there and see I'm not a genius at all.
DeleteOkay, I'm back. Is that an old pattern or can I find it now? I love it. Summer is definitely going to see some of those.
ReplyDeleteIt should be currently available. I did find it nearly impossible to figure out how to put it together since it's not the usual pattern pieces for pants. And my fabric was so stretchy droopy it was like goop or something working with it. But I guess it turned out alright in the end...
DeleteHere's what the Winged Victory of Samothrace would have worn had pants been the dress of the day. There really is a heroic quality to these, and it takes a real woman to pull it off. As you do! They really are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny, someone told me I looked like an angel when I put on my red caplet with those pants. I guess they do have some sort of quality about them.
DeleteLove those trousers. They could be a skirt when you're standing still and then they're trousers. Just great!
ReplyDeleteYeah, or they could be clown pants, too!
DeleteMe too - crazy for the Big Bag pants! Thanks for sharing them with Visible Monday : >
ReplyDeleteHowdy partner, thought for a minute there, you said the Big Bang pants. hmmm. Thanks for having us all over for Visible Monday, Patti!
DeleteThose big bag pants are awesome!! Love the violet mary janes too!
ReplyDeleteLittle mary janes and big baggy pants, sounds like a children's story, doesn't it? Well, they are fun!
DeleteThose pants are totally awesome. I was thinking of how sculptural they were and then saw your reference to marble sculptures. You are so cool with mad artistic abilities. I so admire your creations.
ReplyDeleteAs cool as Johnny Depp in the Chocolate Factory??! nah. Not as rich either. But I do have stylin' potential!
DeleteI'd be dancing in those pants too- they are liquid fun!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good way to describe them, Bella.
DeleteThose trousers really are quite amazing!
ReplyDeleteThey practically have a life of their own.
DeleteWhen I saw those droopy drapey drawers of yours on Megan's BDay Bash I thought some Photoshop Liquify Tool was involved. Now I see it was some clever fabric wizardry. No surprise there!
ReplyDeleteNo wait. There IS some sort of PIXEL VORTEX happening in the top photo. Wooooooeeeeeee (cue theremin)
You got it, Annnnne.
DeleteDancing is on of my favorite activities and these pants are definitely worthy of some serious moves. And perfect for a birthday celebration. But then the entire outfit has energy for the dance floor! Always brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThat's right, how are your flamenco lessons going? Now that's some real serious dancing!
DeleteYour outfit is fun, fun, fun. The pants are fabulous. Not sure I could carry them off with the panache that you do; but I find them inspiring just the same. The shoes are very cool. I had an unfortunate experience with painting a pair of shoes that were destined for goodwill. I think I put the paint on too thick, and it just cracked off. You have some good tips here, and I may give it another try.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
Deleteyeah, I'm even thinking I may make another pair in a dark color now...
I've not had any of my painted shoes crack - and I've done a lot of them on all sorts of surfaces (leather, canvas, suede, pleather). The only time I've had anything crack or peel was when I just used glitter on some pleather combat boots. That was kind of a mess. But acrylic paint, no problem.
The pants are amazing!
ReplyDeleteYes they have a life of their own. I'm coming by your place right now.
DeleteThose pants were definitely made for dancing, you total genius! x
ReplyDeleteWoohoo, you're back! I'm coming right over.
DeleteYour Big Bag Pants are fantastic, they could be by some expensive designer! I love the shirt and vest too, the colours and patterns are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see you back and blogging too! I must admit, they can't get any baggier and still have me wearing 'em.
DeleteLove the treatment you gave the photos! So fun!
ReplyDeleteYes, I wanted to catch them in the act of moving, rather than standing there so statuesque.
DeleteThose baggy trousers are fantastic; love them. Will you make a summer weight version? I love my summer baggy trousers, my uniform for hot weather.
ReplyDeleteI haven't yet, but that was always a thought. It takes so much fabric and I'm trying to use up what I already have...
