Pink Snakeskin Boots

Yeah.  My ensemble du jour evolved around them, so watch for it.  Everything else has been seen/worn previously.  Ready?

made-from-scratch knit top, gifted thrifted vest, and very old bracelet

gifted hand-made necklaces

made-from-scratch drapey skirt

refashioned sheer pantaloons, old tights cut into sox, thrifted pink faux snakeskin boots

The rabbit just hangs out there as a door stop.

See more pix in situ after the break...

Here's wear the magic happens...
Behind the scenes with one of my encaustic & wood sculptures, Tree Bark Woman.
And here we conclude with the usual straight forward shot.

With that behind me, I'm free to join Patti and the Visibles at Not Dead Yet Style as well as the Monday Mingle crowd.  Won't you join me where a good time is had by all?!  And since it's Tuesday already, I'm showing off my new boots at Lakota's Ta-dah Tuesday too.

  2. I love you through the looking glass! THRIFTED boots? The footwear gods were surely smiling on you. Incredible. If I saw you in the coffee shop I would crash your table for sure.
I love your Tree Bark Woman too. You must have so many treasures in your home...

    1. Ooo, ooo, that would be the coolest thing, to be coffee shop table crashed by some like you! Just because of what I was wearing - wow!

Yea, those are the boots in just my size, never been worn for $12 I got at the devil's thrift store that just opened down the street from my house. It's got a paper sign taped to the window that reads " Blessings, Gallery 66, thrift store, closed Sundays." I've not been back...yet.

Glad you like Tree Bark Woman, across the way from her is Fairy.

  3. Tree Bark Woman and a friendly rabbit? Sounds like you're living in an enchanted forest, can I come?
Love everything you're wearing, especially the pantaloons and the necklaces and of course, those Ta-Dah boots! x

    1. Yes, please do! Except I'd have to clean up, so dusty to put it nicely.
I swear I tried on a ton of sox til I got to the right ones for those boots. Everything else just went on like 1-2-3.

  4. I just love how you style those boots! Perfectly I must add. I also love the words on the box: Tender and Snipped!

  5. The boots are killer, but the pantaloons have stolen my heart. So fun and flirty. It's these little surprises that make your outfit one tall drink of deliciousness.

    1. Nothing like sheer black pantaloons for a little flirt action, I always say.

  6. From top to bottom, a visual feast! Patterns, textures, colors, YUM!

I like that folding action in the skirt that kind of looks like swags. A 20s feel and the stripes bending highlight it so well! Kudos!

    1. Yeah, with the b&w stripes it reminds me of that or a saloon girl's dress, sorta...

  8. Ohhhh the pink snakeskin boots! No wonder your outfit revolved around them. I also love the patterned tights and how they contrast with your skirt.

Tree Bark Woman is spectacular. Did your create her too? I must say that your talent is limitless!

    1. Yea for funky print boots, snakeskin, leopard, whatever.

Yes, that's just a slice of a view of Tree Bark Woman. She's about 7 feet tall, 2 1/2 feet wide, and 2 1/2 feet deep, made from found wood, carved and assembled together, then painted with encaustic (layers of melted beeswax and glazes of oil paint, intermittently fused with a propane torch).

  9. I love how you doled out the delicious details as I scrolled down until I was able to see the entire assemblage. Verrrrry nice. The boots and the legwear are scrumptious, but no more so than that extraordinary skirt, the yummy pink print and beautiful necklace(s) with the striped ribbon. Can you tell I love this outfit? Colors, patterns, proportions, fabrics etc. I love the wood door, too.

Also, can we please see more of Tree Bark Woman and any friends she might have?

    1. It reminds me of those flip books where you can change the head, middle, or feet by flipping that section of the page.

Yea, you can see all the encaustic sculptures on my art website
http://www.patottoart.com under 'encaustics' or 'figurative sculptures.' Thanks for asking.

  10. Those boots are tremendous!!! Devil's thrift store indeed. Your pattern mixing and striped edging on the vest and your bracelet and those amazing pantaloons and wicked-awesome skirt and sox make me way happy! The bunny in the mirror is also my favourite.

I appreciate being able to see your outfit and details more clearly than usual in these photos, thanks Pat!

  11. I cannot say it better than anyone else has. This is a fabulous outfit. I do love the boots, the pink makes it very different than the usual snakeskin. The bunny seems mesmerized just like me! Wow!

    1. It is interesting that when I just make something, or receive a gift, or thrift something - it all just goes together perfectly. How is that?
      You do that too.

    1. Hey Tamera, my house is naked compared to yours! The rabbit serves as a doorstop to keep it from slamming shut on the kitties. Otherwise the house is just filled with out artwork. You can see it if you want on my website http://patottoart.com and my true love's at http://kdoddart.com

    1. Oh, thanks Lakota, glad you enjoyed looking at it. I've pretty much abandoned my art-making per se the last couple years to focus exclusively on sewing, re-fashioning clothes. Not that there really has to be a distinction. I was moving toward this for years and years with fabric and stitching becoming part of the art and/or dress imagery. But now I get to wear it instead!

  14. Wowzah! Not only those amazing boots but the whole look- it's individual original and gasp! TOTALLY WEARABLE. You look like a person if I saw in a coffee shop I would want to sit and chat with. Altogether visible and lovely!

  18. You look like you're about to follow that rabbit down a hole and that's when the magic will REALLY happen.

How brilliant you are to combine the faux snakeskin boots with the large fishnets and the stripey skirt.
