After saying I don't wear hats...I made some. I thought I'd give it a try with some knit fabric a friend gave me. I remembered I did have a few patterns for hats that came along with coats/jackets. So I looked them up and settled on two that looked do-able. Testing, One, Two...Ready?

You know I'm not going to waste a perfectly good circle of leftover fabric. My first foray into sewing with knits happened a week or so ago when I made a
top out of another gorgeous print from E's leftover stash. You can see it on my
Clothes for Winter page. I even bought one of those double needles to use with it. I don't know why I've avoided knits all this time...I guess I always thought they would be clingy or itchy. Not necessarily true. What do you think of knits? To wear or to sew...
Wonderful hat, it makes a whole outfit, and I bet it iluminate and britens you day.
ReplyDeleteYou are fascinating, dear Pao.

I remind myself of Annie Hall in it. Whether that's a good or bad thing...eh, who knows?
DeleteI think it's poifect!! Of course you can wear hats. You're an artist for heaven's sake!! No really, you do look good in this style.
ReplyDeleteOh, there's two hats. Well, you good darn good in both!
DeleteYes, they're both out of the same fabric - I was testing driving 'em.
DeleteVery nice hats! They look warm and stylish.
ReplyDeleteLove knits - both to sew and to wear! The larger portion of my garments are knits.
Well, I bow to your experience, Louisa.
DeleteAdorable hats! Love the one with the buttonflower. I recently thrifted a knit hat. It was brand new and looked like I could slouch it. My head is often too small for most hats, but I like the one I got because I can fold or slouch it and I can put it in the wash if need be.
ReplyDeleteI don't love sewing knits. My favorite thing to sew is denim or corduroy. I'm sure I'd love to work with leather if I had a better machine. I am not a fan of working with the flimsy stuff (and I say that as someone who primarily works with silk - I like the thick stuff!)
My poor machine. Being cavalier, I've sewn over multiple painted canvases as part of my artwork... tsk, tsk.
DeleteThat's a fabulous hat!
ReplyDeleteVix brought you and your cleverness to my attention a while back....thanks for dropping by my blog!X
My pleasure Helga, you are a wild thang fer sure! I'll be back.
DeleteBoth are great on you, and I especially love #1! I'm also glad to see your face - hi Pat!!! There you are!
ReplyDeleteYes, but can you see my eyes?! I mean other than the dark circles under them...
DeleteHats. Knits. All good. You look great!!!
ReplyDeleteWell said Jean.
DeleteYou are absolutely fabulous in hats and Pat in the Hat, so clever, so Project Minima.
ReplyDeleteAh, from the high priestess of hats, I am most honored.
