A Little Tuck and Drape

...is all we old things need.  Yes, indeedy.  I had a sudden urge for more rehab.  Sew here it is.

bathed in a golden glow, just like the golden girls, eh?

Here's looking at you, babe.
I remind myself of old theatre curtains...whoo.

I'm working it.
Just look at that drape action!
For detail shots and 'befores' keep on going.

A look down at my old gold Dr. Scholl's sandals
and a bended knee close-up of les pleats & tucks

Here's how the pants looked 100 years ago, before I rehabbed them the first time.
early jeans, cool at the time
Later rehabbed, but still not cool.
at least they're pressed.
But wait I did make improvements:
Like unhem & stabilize for added length
remove pleated front & add new waistband

I just noticed I never posted the top I made.  Guess I really didn't like it as it was.
Like this - too big and baggy all over.
But it did have some nice things going for it - like the sheer dotted swiss fabric that was given to me,

and some of the (hey!) tucks and pleats, and of course, the dusty mauve color.

But now I just love it with a few more horizontal tucks added at the bottom
(This is a dumb photo. )
Actually it creates a nice drape going to the side and around the back.

And here's the pattern from whence it came.

Much more is going on in the ol' sewing studio, but for now let's get on over to Patti's Not Dead Yet Style and hang out with the always amazing Visibles.

I've been all dresses all the time lately (with no skirts to be seen).  And then these pants popped into the picture.  What better way to celebrate them then with Sacramento's Share-in-Style: Skirts or Trousers. What do you choose?

  1. Love the nips and tucks you took here, Pao. And the Golden Girls reference - they used to seem so old to me, now not so much : > Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, and letting us in on your creative process.

    1. I know, I know. I must be the same age as some of them were in the show, but there's no way I look...like...that...O.L.D., is there? Thanks for hosting our visibility, Patti.

  2. Tuck and drape sounds like a plastic surgery procedure gone horribly wrong, at least the drape part...heh.
I love love how you resurrect your stuff. Pleat, tucks, foldovers, foldarounds, underfolds, centrefolds?!. Feeling like theatre curtains is a fantastic thing to feel like, all drahma darling. You look great, Pao.

    1. Well, I'm glad to hear theatre curtains is a fantastic thing to feel like. I wasn't so sure...a little Punch and Judy, you know. I could go on forevah redoing my stuff. There's certainly no need to buy anything. Except maybe shoes on evilbay.

    1. ah yes, you with the baggy pants icon. I remember. They do look a little better now, don't they. I'm slow sometimes.

  4. That whence looks challenging enough, and then look at what you went and did. I love these kinds of details, especially on loose flowing clothing. Now you make me want to go and dig those pants I threw away out, but that was months ago. I learned a few things since then, darn it. Oh well, there's always more pants!

    1. You're cooking as it is, Joni. So many new things you've remodeled just for you. And isn't fun and easy? You just have to think of it and then do it.

  8. NEAT! Such wonderful pants, kid! And I like what you did with the shirt, 'cause it looks good, and when you wear them together ... TADA! ... an outfit is born. Lovely.
Golden Girls ... I don't think I'll live long enough to be as old as they still seem to me. Yikes! You don't seem like their contemporary either, in age or spirit.
Reminds me of my response to a twenty-something salesperson at JC Penny when she referred me to the Alfred Dunner department when I was looking for petite dresses. I informed her in no uncertain terms that "I'll never be old enough to wear Alfred Dunner!!!!" Harrumph.
Have a lovely week, Pao ... I think of you so often.

Hope your business plans are on an even keel now. You've looked great, regardless, through it all, Jan.
