Oh dear, oh dear, I'm so behind in picture-taking. And I found these pix already downloaded

How could I resist? A gray and white with pink and red print trio of tablecloths. I mean, we've got stripey things, checkerboards, flowers and big abstract shapes with flourishes going on here.

This is how my shoes looked before I got to them. A light brown suede. I knew I wanted to paint them a distressed white when I first bid on them on ebay.

DeleteI love it! I bought this pattern after seeing you made one but I have yet to even crack it open, what was I thinking I don't even sew:) I even found two vintage table cloths, one day!!!

Oh Krista, how cool is that?! Let me warn you that the pattern runs several sizes too big. Also do the smocking first before it's put all together, it'll be so much easier. Depending on how big the cloths are, you might need three. Have fun!

Whatever will I do when it's not the season for tablecloth dresses?? I'm sure I'll think of something. The good thing about painting shoes is it doesn't have to end.
DeleteI love all your tablecloths...ahem...I mean dresses! It's interesting to see how you piece them especially as you used the same pattern, and yet they all look so different. This one has the stunning red accents that I love. And who could overlook your shoes! I liked them bright, but I also like this version. They've been antiqued! Sooooo much better than the brown. It takes an artist's eye...XO JJ
ReplyDeleteI actually have 7 of these dresses! Still one to show ya'll. I have never made the same pattern more than twice before. But I just love the mix-up of tablecloths and finally had to force myself to stop. Not with the tablecloths, but that pattern.

DeleteThose shoes are epic! True works of art, both the way they were made and your final touches make them much much better. They're whimsical, witchy, and even have a touch of humor.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea mentioned above about all the stories around the tables these linens have witnessed. If you start to hear voices while wearing these you'd better grab a tablet and pencil!

ReplyDeleteI really think there is a huge untapped market for funky-stylish-arty flats. Manufacturers need to get on it stat! There's a huge cohort of Baby Boomers like me who can't wear heels of any kind but refuse to wear ugly running shoes instead. I so envy your ability to buy shoes online, pao. I have to try them on my very particular feet first.
Oh I tell you, it's too much fun buying them online and more often than not, I do well. I always ask for the inside measurement of length and width, as well as heel height because as we all know, size is just a number.
