Oh dear, oh dear, I'm so behind in picture-taking. And I found these pix already downloaded
and edited, but not yet posted! How did that happen?
Now posting tout de suite!

How could I resist? A gray and white with pink and red print trio of tablecloths. I mean, we've got stripey things, checkerboards, flowers and big abstract shapes with flourishes going on here.
| |
See what I mean? |
To see more, keep on going...
|
The final three tablecloths selected after hours of auditioning. |
|
Try-outs with trims were an overwhelming no go. |
This is how my shoes looked before I got to them. A light brown suede. I knew I wanted to paint them a distressed white when I first bid on them on ebay.
|
But I thought that I went a little too bright with the white |
|
I distressed them even more, including their original shoelaces |
|
that's more like it |
|
My true love just calls them grungy. ah well. |
Details of the dress can be viewed on my
Clothes for Summer page. Speaking of which, I'm off to join Sacramento's
Share-in-Style: Summer party. Come on over. And then it's back to the other 6 pieces to be photographed and bloggified... Oh, oh, now I get a chance to show these babies at the lovely Shelia's
Shoe Shine. Not to be missed!
Those shoes look amazing! Love your tablecloth dress, another triumph! xxx
ReplyDeleteOh we do have our niches, tablecloths and curtains are covered by the two of us domestic goddesses.
DeleteI love it! I bought this pattern after seeing you made one but I have yet to even crack it open, what was I thinking I don't even sew:) I even found two vintage table cloths, one day!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration!
XXOO
Oh Krista, how cool is that?! Let me warn you that the pattern runs several sizes too big. Also do the smocking first before it's put all together, it'll be so much easier. Depending on how big the cloths are, you might need three. Have fun!
DeleteYes! Yes! It's another tablecloth dress! I love the excellent shoes too. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThere's actually one more like this and then I'm off to my own machinations...
DeleteWhat could be more Summer-y than a tablecloth dress? You're ready for a picnic at all times!
ReplyDeleteThe shoes, the shoes, wow how you made them awesome! Nice to know I'm not the only one to buy shoes with the intent to attack them with paint. :o)

Whatever will I do when it's not the season for tablecloth dresses?? I'm sure I'll think of something. The good thing about painting shoes is it doesn't have to end.
DeleteI love all your tablecloths...ahem...I mean dresses! It's interesting to see how you piece them especially as you used the same pattern, and yet they all look so different. This one has the stunning red accents that I love. And who could overlook your shoes! I liked them bright, but I also like this version. They've been antiqued! Sooooo much better than the brown. It takes an artist's eye...XO JJ
ReplyDeleteI actually have 7 of these dresses! Still one to show ya'll. I have never made the same pattern more than twice before. But I just love the mix-up of tablecloths and finally had to force myself to stop. Not with the tablecloths, but that pattern.
DeleteLove both the dress and the shoes. Think of all the conversations those tablecloths have been party to. :)
ReplyDeleteNow that would be a good book, short stories perhaps? Think of the drama!
DeleteThose shoes are epic! True works of art, both the way they were made and your final touches make them much much better. They're whimsical, witchy, and even have a touch of humor.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea mentioned above about all the stories around the tables these linens have witnessed. If you start to hear voices while wearing these you'd better grab a tablet and pencil!
That's me alright - whimsical, witchy, and with a touch of humor.
DeleteOh, yet more cool table-clothes!! You are so inventive. And another fabulous shoe refurbishing as well! Your True Love is incorrect - they are not grungy.
ReplyDeleteI really think there is a huge untapped market for funky-stylish-arty flats. Manufacturers need to get on it stat! There's a huge cohort of Baby Boomers like me who can't wear heels of any kind but refuse to wear ugly running shoes instead. I so envy your ability to buy shoes online, pao. I have to try them on my very particular feet first.
Oh I tell you, it's too much fun buying them online and more often than not, I do well. I always ask for the inside measurement of length and width, as well as heel height because as we all know, size is just a number.
DeleteTable clothes will never look the same to me, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for joining the Share-in-Style family

And thanks for having the Summer party, Sacramento!
DeleteYour genius is showing once again. I love the idea of auditioning, and relate to the concept. The shoes are magnificent!
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are KILLER! I love what you did with them, Pao! Thank you so much for linking up to Shoe Shine!
