This Is It For Now

Getting ready to join Patti's gathering with the Visibles at Not Dead Yet Style for the end of  2012...hmmm, what to wear...?

how about the skirt I just finished, the top I refashioned & the gifted vest?

find out after the break!

with my really old lace-up boots

yeah, I think I'll go with that

You can see more pictures of the skirt itself and/or me modeling it on the Clothes for Winter page.  Or... click on the bold items to get to the source of it all.

Looking forward to seeing y'all at Patti's.  Joining the crowd at Monday Mingle too.  And the Pleated Poppy.

Really, I think of my new year starting on my birthday anyway.  Takes the pressure off...

    1. ah yes, a boot person. But these are very, very old, but a classic I guess. I have been craving some newer ones lately. I should check out Amazon it seems...no, no, I don't need anything more. That's my mantra. I just have to remember it.

    1. I just finished the skirt today. From a Marcy Tilton for Vogue pattern that I futzed around with. Oh it's not my birthday - I meant I think of my birthday as my new year's day, not new year's day as new year's day. Something like that.

    2. Ahhh Marcy Tilton I like her stuff too. Well just consider it an early birthday wish :)

  3. Hi Pat, Happy New Year to you too!
I love the hem on your new skirt. I've been seeing those around and love the detail, very artistic.

Those lace up boots are great too. When I got married back in 98 I was searching all over trying to find a pair just like that except in a cream color...I wanted to do the whole Stevie Nicks thing. But, no luck. I settled for some really uncomfortable cheapo shoes instead. ;(

    1. The skirt was quite easy, just a lot of tucks angled along the hemline and a couple at each side at knee height.

  4. I love that skirt! Beautifully done and fantastic with those oldie-but-goodie boots, and a great pattern mix with the top. Happy 2013 to you and your beloved!

    1. I kinda like the skirt. I found it "goes" with just about everything in my closet. Doesn't everybody have a pair of those lace-ups, or had? The best for 2013 to you guys too.

  7. Hello Pat! What a great skirt. The new year is coming, but I think we have so many opportunities to wipe the slate clean. Everyday is a fresh new day where we can start new projects, be happy and free, and work hard to enjoy life.

Then again my birthday is only a couple weeks away, so my new year is always reawakening in the cold January air.

Have a very happy New Year!

  8. I love it. Just love it. You look Prepared and Beautiful. And I would like to hear you walk across that gorgeous wood floor and hear it squeak (the floor, not the skirt). I had a jumper with a similar hem and I tried stuffing my ballet dress under it for Christmas day. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time - I looked like a gigantic lumpy black tar ball. Not the look I was going for... Happy New Year!!!

    1. ooo, I liked that, Prepared and Beautiful. What could be better?! And it does squeak in certain areas throughout the house. What, and no pictures of that ensemble? Alas, we'll just have to use our imaginations...or perhaps there exists a most excellent drawing of it? Happy New Year to you, dear Melanie and Ms. Baggs too.

    1. Oh puleeze, Lovely Lynne - just close your eyes and put on whatever your hands land on. I used to do that in my coloring books with crayons. Too much fun.

  11. Yup, I've got those boots too. BTW, what size do you wear? You might have to resist buying stuff, but you're allowed to get gifts, right? Happy New Year!! Your outfit is perfectly patterned, Pao. I love it. I'm going to copy the skirt. Hope you don't mind.

    1. And in more than one color too? Yep, I know I do. Shoe size is 7 1/2 or 8, probably 8 if you happen to know of any strays...In fact, I recently acquired a silly pair of Doc Martin oxfords that are an 8, but way, way too wide (like I'm a normal B width) if anyone out there is interested). I paid $15.50 for them. Darn. That'll teach me alright.

Anyway, yes! go for the skirt, Jean. I started off from a pattern that I pictured on my Clothes for Winter page.

  13. Ooh, now you're reminding me that I had a pair of boots like those somewhere. I think they needed new laces...

Love the skirt! It would be interesting to see how it reads with a barcode scanner, no?
