May I Present to you...

...another tablecloth dress!

Lest their be some confusion, two items are being shown here.  My reversible kimono vest and my tablecloth dress with drawstring hemline.

Yes, now you get the picture.

and a side view close-up.

I think the striped socks with the shiny black clogs add a stabilizing factor to all that dizzying floral/ pattern jazz, don't you?

I've been experimenting with Tina Given's freebee patterns, and having so much fun changing up the basic shape.  This time I added length, the drawstring hemline, and sleeves (that also have a drawstring near the wrist that I'm not using at the moment).  To see details of the dress, go to my Clothes from Fall page.

The reversible vest was made in the early days of Project Minima along with a couple others.  A great way to use favorite scraps of fabric.  You'll just have to search for the vest!

Meanwhile, I'm heading over to Patti's Not Dead Yet Style and join the Visibles.  Not to be missed!  And Rhonda's Creative Life for Me Made Monday.  Check it out.

  1. Ah thanks for the link to Tina Givens' site, pao - I love those shapes. And your own drawstring-hem dress, and swoop-y kimono too -- brilliant. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, and stay fabulous. xox

    1. Wow, you're fast, Patti. I just left your site. I see we've got a similar style vibe going - what did you call it? Ah, yes, full over full. That's me.

  2. This is a knights-of-the-roundtable tablecloth dress if there ever was one, it is so wonderful. With a drawbridge, I mean string. And with the vest...! I agree that stripes and clogs are great anchors for any outfit. Gorgeous.

    1. oh my, I'm just looking at this on the old computer and it looks like I'm practically in the dark (ages). No really. This is the first post from my new lap top and it has such high res, blah, blah, blah. Do tell, if the pix look DARK on your screen, won't ya?

    1. Me too, the Plinka Pants, I mean. They came out so gigantic, even after taking them in 4 inches on each side with pleats, so pajamas it is. Thanks for doing the Monday Me Made hosting too.

  5. I like drawstrings that let you play with the length and shape of an item of clothing. The photos are pretty dark on my screen too (I saw your reply to Melanie's comment).

  7. Looks like a completely different outfit from the side! Golden instead of cool! Neat either way. I have no kimono in my closet right now ... and I love them so much. I like real ones ... and that gets dicey on a short, clearly Western red-head. My big fault creatively is that I go straight for the literal interpretation. Sometimes I can take it from there, but most often I get stuck ...
    Have a groovy week, Pao!

    1. Oh Jan. The sex, origin, size, or hair color of the wearer doesn't matter. Kimono is a state of being...or mind...or style...
      And you've got all that!

  8. I love a new sewing blog! Have bookmarked Tina Givens. Don't you just love a versatile pattern? I'm finding myself in baggier and baggier clothing due to waist issues (irritable bowel, I curse you!)
I really love this tablecloth dress with its drawstrings. You really do it so well. I'm inspired all over again!
    Thankyou, xo JJ
