Canada?
editor's note: It's next week already. Think I'll take myself over to Patti and the Visibles for Not Dead Yet Style, yeah. And then after this no more black.
Oh, and the dress. I made it awhile back using Katherine Tilton's V8834 top which I elongated into an ankle length dress. Instead of all those buttons (and button holes), I used snap tape. For this ensemble, I just snapped it up all willy-nilly and personally, I think it looks better than ever. When I first made it, I wore it like this.
I LOVE these photos no matter what triggered the colour choice. The outfit is awesome. Focus on the positive, right? I wore head to toe black today too.
ReplyDeleteYeah, at least I got dressed and did it. This was the only black dress I had. And I did make it, only this time I snapped it up all haphazard, or arty, whichever you prefer. Maybe just a black armband going forward will do it.
DeleteApt choice, to the point captions, creative sewing, wonderful styling. Classic Pao. Love you! Wishing you well with your Canadian immigration! xo Jazzy Jack
ReplyDelete"Emigration"...pedant! Jazzy Jack
DeleteReally, we've actually discussed it. Can't look up info via internet, Canadian sites keep crashing. But it's probably just a pipe dream. We're too old to be accepted. You can't just retire to Canada. Unless you're famous, maybe.
Deleteo yea. i´m shocked too. although i should´t - germans voted for the worst too in the past - and i fear they will do it again.........
ReplyDeletelove your cool black look - especially shoes and gloves!
hugs! xxxxxx
Who isn't? Yes, all the black things I own gravitated together and voila.
DeleteI feel your pain.
ReplyDeleteLuckily, I was at Glastonbury when we heard that we'd lost and Brexit had been voted in, we had no alternative but to get wasted.
Looking incredible. Those shoes are insane (rather like the American electorate) xxx
I had to use filters on each picture. I couldn't stand to just be myself, as is, for this post.
DeleteWe are feeling your pain too! ( If not too trivial, would love the coat details---)
ReplyDeleteThe dress is adapted from Katherine Tilton Vogue 8834 top that I elongated into a ankle length dress. I used snapped tape rather than buttons. Today, I just snapped it up any old way, rather than 'properly' and thought it looked more appropriate.
DeleteI wore head to toe black yesterday in solidarity with my American friends. Still in shock and feeling rather ill, actually. I do love the drapey-ness of the coat, but it is very odd to see you without your colours and patterns.
ReplyDeleteYea, what else can one do, but go into mourning. Thanks for the solidarity, Shelley. What does it mean that I've only heard from non-Americans thus far...
DeleteI know, I really felt the non-color, non-pattern in putting this ensemble on. It was difficult to do. But impossible not to.
I have no words. I would welcome you to Canada but somehow I think all the sensible people had better not bail out. You all need to stay and try to balance all the crazy! {{{{hugs}}}}
ReplyDeleteBelieve me, if they would let us in, we would be on our way. I think it's much too late for sensible people. But since neither of us are well-renown in our respective fields, nor billionaire investors, and aren't officially classified as political refugees (ha!), Canadian doors are closed.
DeleteIt is horrifying.
ReplyDeleteBut your outfit is really wonderful, at least.
My way of coping...
DeleteI think the americans are still trying to breathe. At least the ones who "lost". I'm reeling, and honestly don't know... much of anything. To say it's a new day is putting it mildly. I would totally join you outside of the country. I already proposed marriage to Melanie a while back, thinking polygamy might be the ticket to Canadian citizenship. Haven't done the research though.
ReplyDeleteSnap tape, huh? I like it.
ahh, that's a good idea, marrying a Canadian. Let me know how your research goes.
DeleteWell, at least you look awesome. I'm glad something in America is awesome. :(
ReplyDeleteYes, we must look for all the little awesome-nesses now where ever we can find them.
DeleteGreat dress and hey, you're out of the house! I was under my desk for a few days. Love those gloves. xox

Yeah, all the way from the basement stairs to the back porch.
DeleteThe shoes remind me of the ones I saw in Japan worn by geishas

They have Geta written on the bottom of the sole, in both English and in Japanese characters.
