Antarctica Lake Michigan.

~ shhh, there she is now ~ |
It must be disconcerting standing on what was once the lake, now covered with frozen piles of sand. Beyond are huge chucks of ice floes stretching out to the horizon.
|
~ what is she doing now? ~ |
|
~ ah yes, tasting it ~ |

~ and Happy Valentine's Day to You! ~ |
Live, from the shores of Lake Michigan, in Chicago.

~ I gotta get out of this place ~ |
Please note for your viewing pleasure: my Walking Dead Doc Martens boots from ebay, my Spirit Hoods fur hat also from ebay, the hand-knitted (or is it crochet?) scarf from a friend, and my Mom's old "shopping" coat. All coming together for the perfect Scarlet Sasquatch ensemble as named by today's photographer friend, Sally.

~ with a parting shot of the break water (ha ha) ~ |
I'll be heading on over to Patti's

yikes! (how does it taste?) You're a brave warrior. I'm adding a blanket just looking at you. xox
ReplyDeleteI don't know, I think my tongue got frozen.
DeleteDon't eat that! Hahaha! I remember Lake Erie being frozen like that and skating on it a few times, hearing that ominous rumble underneath and actually seeing the water moving below. Terrifying. And the sound!! I love this photo series and your titles. Thanks for the red and the memories.
ReplyDeleteLike Zappa's 'Don't eat the yellow snow.' The lake has been so weird to see everyday in this weather. Changing into stranger and stranger configurations. Alien.
DeleteYes, you are having similar weather to us in Southwestern Ontario! Melanie's comment reminded me of going to Port Stanley on Lake Erie one winter when the waves were frozen and you could walk out onto the water. Awesome Walking Dead Docs!
ReplyDeleteYea, I thought they were appropriate gear for the surroundings. Of course, the hat sort of tones them down a few notches. I've never seen the lake like this before. But you guys are in Canada for goodness sake!
DeleteI'm taking a break from shoveling slush in Seattle to marvel and shut up about our weather. You look toasty and delicious, but those frozen waves ARE STILL REALLY FREAKY.
ReplyDeleteThanks sweetie.
Perhaps I should try ice-dying now that I have the chance. You know for that red canvas coat. hmmm...
Deleteyes - get thee to the ice dye!
DeleteOh, your BOOTS! Also, that hat! And I love the colour of your Mum's coat. What a great get-up. The lake is spooky.
ReplyDeleteWhat a combo, eh? I think I'm on a roll with reds. Warming up the cold maybe...
DeleteBlimey, that's a freaky looking landscape (or should that be waterscape?) Fabulous cold weather gear, I love the hat! xxx
ReplyDeleteSorry to shock you so, Vix, right upon your return from India. Can't wait to see your pix.
DeleteAh, the other side of the world. Show us a view of Valerie dressed for Heat Waving And Then Some.
ReplyDeletegetting grounded in the red when the real ground is slippery and scary.
ReplyDeleteIf only I had your bear/bare (?) tracks on.
DeleteI'l do just that, Valerie. I'll do me good. Lake Michigan is still frozen as far as the eye can see.
ReplyDeleteSo awesome! The lake sure looks BLEAK. Brrrrrrrr. Stay warm, Mizz Sasquatch.
ReplyDeleteooo, and that was a sunny day. It's still frozen, but now there's a layer of snow on top. I still go to visit it nearly every day, nevertheless.
DeleteThe pictures are great. I feel like being their and enjoying the frozen weave. As we the people out here are almost dying because of the heat weaves and freaking humidity. Planning to be there sometimes soon.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you, Clipping Path. We're just now experiencing the tropics in Chicago with high 90s and massive humidity.
