Another Accidental Outfit!

~ whoa, I'm all striped up ~

First, I had this skirt under a dress with the vest on top.  And then a light bulb went on.  Hey, that would probably look much better if you just lost the dress.  So I did.  However, I did replace it with a top that happened to be striped too.  Well, then I had to go with striped sox.  Another accidental ensemble came out.

Again, I've never worn these things together before.  Even though they're made out of the same material!  What is my problem?  Am I blind?  That's what MMM does for me.  I get out of my routine of wearing the same things in the same ways.  

So the skirt is from a Marcy Tilton Vogue 8637 pattern.  The vest is from McCall's 7416 made rather large.  It's so oddly shaped, I really like it.  I believe I changed up the back a bit, but I can't really remember any more.

Now for the business part.  The dress is a flop from the Park Bench Willow Grove Pattern.  I modified the heck out of it as it came out as a gigantic sack. And you know I like oversized clothes.  The fabric is printed linen.

Because I don't especially care for the dress on its own, I keep trying different things over it.  This time, I'm wearing my version of the Sewing Workshop's Veranda Dress which came about through a complicated mind-melding process of the pattern and my pinterest pin seen here.   If you just can't get enough, you can see/read the post here.



With all that said and done,  I don't think this ensemble is a roaring success, but it isn't a flaming flop either.  It's okay.  The coral dress is still seeking something.

Too Much To Dream Ensemble

Well, the jacket is from Tina Givens Gypsy Jacket pattern, modified and made in linen.  The camisole is self-drafted, made from organza.  And the pants are self-drafted as well, made in cotton.  I have never worn these things together before.  Will I again?

The shoes are not from ebay, but old ones of mine that were originally black.  I painted them with some heavy metal paints that go verdigris with applications of this and that.  They are also ready to retire, but I luv them so...

Reached back in the vault for this one.  Made along while ago and revamped as I grew and it didn't.  The top went from wrap around to meeting in the center.  Still groovy though.

The fabric is a crinkle cotton, lightweight, soft and comfy.

They are not from ebay.  I don't remember where they came from, but they are old.  I know they were wrecked-up suede and I painted them with acrylic paints.  I had some lavender grosgrain ribbon that I used for the laces.  They are comfortable, but beginning to show they're age.  Do you think it's time they were retired?

Yes, that's it.  This sort of just grew on me.  It doesn't quite work, but it's not all bad either.  Those shoes bug me the worst.  Too cloggy.  Everything else is semi-transparent, gauze, lace or chiffon.   Oh well.

Okay, I had to go to the wayback machine to get this stuff I made and never wore much.   The top is from the Folkwear Greek Island Dress pattern.  The navy gauze dress I renewed in 2011 back when I started Project Minima and then again today, when I raised the side slits to hip height.  The navy gauze pants were also renewed in 2011 by lengthening them with lace I had on hand and the addition of tiny blueberry buttons.
