made-from-scratch kimono top & skirt, upcyled loafers & old sox |
I know, too much of a build up, right? But wait til you see the shoes after the break...
These used to be plain black really boring loafers, yawn. I used ultramarine, cobalt, florescent, and interference blue acrylic paints applied with my finger tip. Then added a thin application of acrylic gloss medium for shine.

Here's the orange color I mixed for the grooves in the soles

Oh, wow, now those shoes are electric and too groovy for the movies. Great socks too - love your artwork, Pao. Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeletetee hee, Patti. I see you can play the rhyming game too. Thanks for being linkable.
DeleteThe blue is cool and electric- what a great way to add more life to a pair of shoes!
ReplyDeleteHey Bella, thanks for stopping by! Yep, that's what I'm trying to do with my stuff, pump it up.
DeleteI'm thinking that you could launch your own line of upcycled shoes. The mix of blues makes me swoon. And then you threw orange into the grooves! Totally outta sight for here!
ReplyDeleteNow there's an idea, but wouldn't they all be in my size...?! I know, the grooves are rad, man.
DeleteGreat revitalization of the shoes! They look amazing, almost like a pair of Fluevogs or something.
ReplyDeleteO.M.G. That is the ultimate compliment coming from you, Megan Mae. I'll have to come up with some cool name for my line of redo shoes. I know, we'll have a contest! Or are they simply pao shoes...pao peds...
DeleteHi, Pao. Love the transormation of the shoes. The blue is awesome.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, thanks for visiting. I do love the blues.
DeleteA woman after my own heart, you are with those electric blue shoes. Thanks for checking out my shoes, too. It's addictive, isn't it? Taking something ho-hum and turning it into something fabulous.
ReplyDeleteIt was a blast seeing all your shoe projects. Addicting? I've livened up about 17 pairs since starting Project Minima. I began slowly and then upped the ante with the color aspect just recently. No more multiple pairs of black shoes here, uhuh.
DeleteThe shoes are great! Thanks for the tip on the documentary, I'll put it on my list!
ReplyDeleteHerzog does great films, especially documentaries. Let me know what you think when you see it.
DeleteOh man, oh, man!! I'm really feeling those shoes. I loved your opening lines. LOL. Just the right touch of build-up for that fabulous footwear. The orange is pow! But moving north a bit, I love your kimono top and skirt too, which you made. Gulp - the talent. I'm going to root through my closet for shoes to paint now.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you recognized the tune: I'm too sexy for my... OMG, Melanie - you have to paint the universe shoes, don't you think?!
DeleteOh yeah! I love that song and thought of it too. I shall paint universe footwear, boots to start I think. Girl, you really got me goin', you got me so I don't know what I'm doin'...
Deleteooo, ooo, I can't wait to see you wearing 'em - and whatever will you wear with the universe at your feet?!
DeletePao Peds! Love the print and particularly the sleeves of your kimono, beautiful! I'm always impressed by your creativity and level of skill - which I see extends to your use of language, awesome!
ReplyDeleteOh Amber, you are too kind for my mind.
DeleteBeautiful kimono and the shoes! Wow, Love the color of them now. In a way with the thick sole they remind me of the Japanese shoes the geishas wore.
ReplyDeleteAh ha! Thanks Debbi, I knew I wasn't all that off base afterall.
DeleteAaah Pao, proffering prodigious pedagogy pertaining to profligate (as in wildly extravagant) ped attire. Perfect!! (I like the kimono pieces too.)
ReplyDeleteOh my, Jean. You're back and minding your P's!
DeleteI love this so much! I'm so sorry if this is a stupid question - but where is your FOLLOW button??? Sarah xxx
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it Sarah! I never put up the official blogger follow button - is that bad? What if no one wanted to...what if I became obsessed by the numbers...?
DeleteBut I do have the blog lovin' one on the bottom left of the screen and the feedburner one at the top left.
