...are posing for
Style Imitates Art. Here is David's (pronounced Dah-veed's) painting of her looking right out at us. Now check out what's happening with me after the jump!

Les Madames avec l' attitude!(?) |
I'm wearing my
refashioned gaucho pants, yes indeed. And
restyled black shirt with a made-from-scratch long
black transparent shell under it. I'm adorned with several homemade crochet lace collars passed down from my Mom. The
lace necklace/ scarf thing I made recently and my
feather boa collar finish off my decorative attire. Some blue scrap fabric is tied around my waist. And my very old lace up black ankle boots complete my ensemble.
See what the others have cooked up with David's
Madame as their inspiration at
Style Imitates Art sometime on Monday or there abouts. I'll also be groovin' over at Patti's
Visible Monday and
Monday Mingle. So come on over. And don't forget the
Ethical Fashion Challenge: DIY Lace!
What fun! IN addition to her outfit, you also capture something of Madame's presence, which I like very much!
ReplyDeletehee hee, I do think we're of the same sisterhood.
DeleteFabulous! The feather boa collar is brilliant, and the collage made me rub my eyes to be sure that David had not painted a camera : >
ReplyDeleteI think he may have time traveled to do this double portrait...
DeleteI'm still trying to figure out how you do this! Can you do a step by step post some day? I'd like to super impose myself over a few famous pieces of artwork!
ReplyDeleteugh...it took me forever to do this one, because I had to figure out how to increase the boundaries of the painting so I could fit myself in it without covering her up totally. It's usually a lot of trial and error and starting all over from scratch because something goes haywire since I don't know what I'm doing or the computer doesn't.
DeleteBut the basic idea is use the square marque on adobe photoshop to frame the aspect of the photo you want to transfer (i.e. me in this case) and then click on copy. Then bring up the photo you want to copy it onto (i.e., the painting) and click on that purple icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Now move your mouse arrow anywhere on the painting and click. Your transfer photo appears overlaid onto the painting photo. Then just mess around with it. You can move it around, scale it down, blah, blah, blah. You can remove the extra bits around the figure by clicking on the magic wand and then hitting the delete button...you just have to play with it. I use all kinds of lighting, filters, etc. to get just what I want. good luck.
Scants?! Bwa-ha-ha! I love that term used in reference to gauchos. I don't think Madame is amused by your bold stance and provocative ankle. Brilliant yet again, pao. The feathers and lace and scrap fabric are superb.
ReplyDeleteOh, she's okay with it, I'm from the future!
DeleteI look forward to seeing what you create as it is always amazing. I too had to look twice at this one. Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThat's because there was two of us this time. You know, double your pleasure, double your fun...
DeleteWow! I love your lace/boa/scarf/necklace thing! Well done!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I call a statement necklace!
DeleteOne of your best yet, and that's saying something. Damn.
ReplyDeleteFrak! I think your right, Jean.
DeleteHaha! Great pic! I like the contrast of the feather boa collar with the severe black of your outfit and how it mimics the combination of her billowing scarf and dark dress.
ReplyDeleteI knew that boa collar would come in handy one day!
