Okay then, hurumph.
So now on to the real slip. I used a satiny, stormy grey material that was definitely not see-thru. But really, it was so plain, it was looking like nun's underwear. Suddenly, I remembered I had all this pale, pale, really pale, wide pink lace in my stash. Perhaps I over-reacted when I added it to the neckline, the hem and both of the side slits. You be the judge. The coolest part, I think, is that it shows out from under the slip dress - through no foresight of my own, mind you.

I think all the layers work really well together! You deserve to wear a crown - many of them, even better. The cool sandals are a nice finishing touch too. I hope it gets warm enough to wear them soon!

Oh my. All three of these items are just lovely. They look wonderful paired together, but I think any of the items could stand alone also. Even the slip! I can imagine wearing the slip barefoot on the beach sipping cocktails...maybe with the crown and skull jacket draped around my shoulders.
ReplyDeleteI fantasize about tropical climes and clothes, but the reality is I don't actually like very hot weather. I just like the boho languid feeling of the clothes.
You conjure up great images, I can even hear the waves lapping in at the shore on Lake Michigan. I would maybe wear the underslip as a nightgown...

ReplyDeleteI brought out the fringe beading when the kimono top needed some help. It just sort of jutted out in the back and needed some weight. The beading did the trick and seemed to work well with that peak-a-boo lace at the hemline.
DeleteI agree, the fringing caught my eye as well. And the lace is fabulous on the grey. Not too much at all! I love all the little details you have on your creations. Yes, I have been lurking for a while...hi! I also love how you are matteroffactly enlarging your clothes, and making them better! A great example for one who is struggling with medication induced weight gain. You rock!
ReplyDeleteFringe is the coolest, don't you think? Those little incidents are the fun-est things. I use to love that aspect in art making too. So nice to meet you, natural medley, glad you came out! Yes, I do think my newly made and re-fashioned clothes are way better than any of my previous ones. There so much more creativity to be experienced in making my own wear, in my own way. I've forgotten the dreadful experience of having to face stores with whatever someone else decides is "in" in terms of style, construction, color, size, fabric, etc., etc. yuck!
