Not as cool as these, but still...the kind you wear with garters. ha. I'll have to direct you back to my refashioned foray into garter belts. Absolutely fabulous to this day. See that preposterous post here.
And now for your viewing pleasure, the black & white, cobbled together bits of stretchy fabric scraps, assembled to create one-of-a-kind (literally) stockings:
oh, yes. |
see? there's the band across the top. |
and look at that design for the feet! |
Needless to say, I owe all the design factoring to Mari of the Rose Hips Tights & Stocking Pattern. I didn't have enough scraps to go all the way, so thigh highs it was. Elastic didn't work at all with this fabric, so I quickly resorted to my lovely garter belts, that I happen to have in both black and in white. To see the stockings up close go to my Clothes for Spring page.
Now it's time to get on over to the ever-lovely Patti of Not Dead Yet Style and mingle with the Visibles. This just in: Spy Girl's 52 PickMeUp Crazy Legs is on! Check us out!
These are so fabulous, Pao! Love the footie-parts. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, xox.
ReplyDeleteOh, the places I'll go...
DeleteThanks for having The Visibles Showcase, Patti.
Incredible, Pao! That is all! x
ReplyDeleteDearest Vix, I am overwhelmed with all your divine treasures. I make myself happy combining my fabric doo-dads on a much tinier scale.
DeleteWow! Those are so cool! So you could make more legs and mix and match for endless one of a kind tights!!!

Yes, missing a sox? No problem, a creative opportunity strikes again. I have to come and see you. I do think I remember those pants...
DeleteThese are FABULOUS Pao! Off to check out your links!
ReplyDeleteAh, Sue Snow of the yellow skirt. So nice to see you here. I have much catching up to do.
DeleteThese are not stockings - they are beyond stockings, they are superhero vibrathons of energy. The pattern smash-up is awesome. And what a ticklish bit of happiness that you wear them with garters. They're great with your fencetop shoes.
ReplyDeleteNow your new shoes need no stockings at all, just hairy legs I believe. A masterpiece. I know I felt, 'how can I post such a measly little thing like stockings?' after seeing your shoes blasting off from the creato-sphere of all things Melanie. Absoulutely Stupendous.
DeleteAbsolutely amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteThey are a bit noticeable, aren't they? I shall have to come over and see you, Natalia.
Deletethose are AMAZING. I'd go gaga over something like that if I saw it for sale on something like sock dreams. They are magnificent and I admit I'm a sucker for any kind of foot wear that shows off my socks.
ReplyDeleteAnd you can make them too, Megan! It doesn't take any particular sewing skills or equipment, just the right fabric - must be stretchy in all directions. Just think of the T's you could pick up at the thrift stores!
DeleteAbsolutely fabulous! Using up scraps AND creating such glorious stockings - a definite two-fer.
ReplyDeleteAnd you're one to know, Louisa, knitting up those wild stripe colorful socks like crazy.
DeleteI LOVE these so much! If they were leggings I would never take them off! They are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteNot so much of a legging fan, myself. But that's what so great about sewing, you can get it the way you want it.
Delete...and pow! Pao socked it out of the arena once again! Beautifully artful as usual.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all that, Jazz.
DeleteSQUEEE! I LOVE those! I wouldn't know where to begin to make something like that.
ReplyDeleteNeither would I, without the pattern, that is. Maybe I could play at Normcore and make some in beige...
DeleteBrilliant! What will you create next? I have a few garter belts myself in my vintage lingerie collection. I remember wearing them in the 50's before the days of panty hose. And girdles! Now there's an item I don't miss.
ReplyDeletePanty hose, then mini skirts, and then the pill. I remember the order.
DeleteI LOVE these. ADORE them! BEST stockings, anytime, any where. These really are not mismatched, either, just from different parts of the same design ... sort of. Like you, they defy qualification!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower, not a leader like you ( applause, giggle, jump) but I love it when stuff is mismatched below the knee. I'm always so tempted to copy Helena Bonham Carter when she wears different shoe on each foot ... perhaps the same pair (and on the correct foot) but different colors each shoe. She's as close to a style icon as I can muster for my shape and size, but I'm not so brave. That, and your tights are the next logical mix-it step, yes?
That is so funny, Jan, about loving stuff when it's mismatched below the knee! Helena Bonham Carter is terrific and I did not know about her 2 different shoes worn at one time thing. Even cooler. I can see you right now doing it. Don't you have those t-strap heels in white and black? or coral? Very nice.
DeleteHere she is in one of the kinder reviews on her outfit. I liked 'um!

I see, red and green, of course!
Deletebrilliant I say!
ReplyDeleteelementary, says I
DeleteAnd I still think they are the best stockings I've seen! :) xxx
ReplyDeleteWell, that is saying something!
DeleteOnly three years late to the party, but those stockings are fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteahh, never too late to hear compliments, my friend. I don't know how to knit like you do, so this is my best shot at sox-making.
