When I walked in, two women seated there said they were reviewing.
"Reviewing what?" I said.
"You," was their reply.
"She makes everything she wears."
"I know and look, everything is matching."
"This doesn't really match," I said.
"Yes, but, it reaallly goes together well," was the response.
~ awww ~ |
While I was standing on the front porch getting my photo taken, the mail lady came up the stairs and said:
"ah, so there's some of the shoes I'm always delivering."
"yes, yes, they are. Used, but looking brand new."
"Regardless, new to you." And it's so nice to put a face to all those packages."
~ awwww ~ |
(Hey, I've got dialogue in my post.) Meanwhile, I made both of these things awhile ago and hadn't had them photographed. The dress is a light-weight cotton knit from New Look 6525 that's a breeze to make. The pants are from the Sewing Workshop Trio pattern that I changed up a little bit. They're made from cotton sateen. It's the second make for both of these patterns.

With that, I'm off to Patti and the Visibles at Not Dead Yet Style, Catherine's I Will Wear What I Like and Cherie's Shoe and Tell. Hope to see you all there!
It doesn't have to match, it only has to GO! said Stacey London one billion times. I love the way these pieces go, and big YEAH to the new shoes. Did you know you were regularly getting "reviewed"? xox

Not until they told me. And who is Stacey London? I guess I'll look her up.
DeleteMore dialogue:
ReplyDelete"The mix of patterns and tones is very pleasing to my eyes as well." exclaimed tess!
;-)
hehe, Tess. I'll have a novella soon.
Delete"You work out in backless shoes?" queried Jack.
ReplyDeleteI'm in awe of your never ending inventions and fun fabrics.
Also the shoes. How nice to hear the story of both these conversations.
You must buy a lot of shoes! Or else she is a fellow shoephile.

"No, no, no. I change into my silver flats for that," stressed pao.
Delete"And yes, yes, I have collected my share of shoes through the ole ebay," confessed pao.
It does "go together" quite nicely. I'm slowly making friends with my sewing machine and perhaps one day I could make a dress like that. For now, I'm embellishing pieces that I already have.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear your sewing is growing. Are you having fun yet? Embellishing is so cool. Do check out Pearl Red Moon's blog for a feast of it. (She's on my side bar).
DeleteYou said it, Valerie.
ReplyDeleteYou put everything together in the best way, pao! And I love that your postie has noticed your shoe fetish. Heh. She’s probably envious of your magical ability to find perfect shoes secondhand. I sure am!
ReplyDeleteOoh, and Shelley is sewing now. Yay!
Does this mean you're back home from the amazing camping/ cross countries road trip? woo-hoo.
DeleteI know, Shelley is sewing!
I love this combination, great colours and patterns. Olive-y greens are lovely. I am particularly enamoured of the pattern in the trouser fabric.
ReplyDeleteIt kinda reminds me of spiro-graphs, if you remember those.
DeleteYes! That's probably part of why I love it, in fact!
DeleteThey look phenomenal together - that's far more important than matching! x
ReplyDeleteYes, ain't that the truth. I'm being pretty tame, actually and not nearly Vix-i-cated enough.
DeleteI am curious to know how you altered the pants pattern. I have it but haven't made it yet. Deets pleeze. As to shoes, I wish you'd photograph your shoe closet contents just to make us all jealous. And I love all the beetle pix. So gorgeous. I hope you are embroidering them for your amazing coat.
ReplyDeleteHey Vancouver Barbara! Both pairs I made are a olive-y green. The first ones are here:

The only change on these, I believe, is I added patch pockets above the large cargo pockets. The pattern runs large, except for the t-shirt. On these pants, I did the same pocket addition, but I took in the pants at the hem with little pleats.
I'm afraid to say, I have too many shoes to photograph in one place at one time.
And those beetles. I'm totally fascinated and can't stop looking at them. I'm also trying to figure out how I can sew them onto the finished coat. It seems likely I would have to take it apart. So I'm still trying to figure out how to go about it. And what surface would work best to embroider my bugs onto. Research and experimenting.
If it "goes together" then it matches in my eyes!
ReplyDeleteSay it how it is, Hollie.
