~ And I did. ~ |
~ Yeah, I finally got off my tush ~ |
... and started an exercise regime a year ago on April 1. No kidding.
~ In fact, this is one of my exercise ensembles ~ |
Except for the shoes, of course. Then I wear my silver, flat soled, slip-on, Trippens.
This is all old stuff, just never worn together before. A Tina Givens Olivia Tunic Pattern made out of really stretchy thin jersey knit and a Tina Givens Phoebe Pants Pattern made out of embellished corduroy.
But here's the really good news: After one year of exercising regularly, with no change in my diet, I lost 11 lbs. Otherwise I'm sure I would have gain weight. Which is one of the things I've been doing each year as I get older.
(Tell me about it.)
But even cooler are all the inches I've lost. In comparing the measurements taken a year ago, to today's --- I've lost .5" from biceps, 2" from bust, 2" from waist, 2.5" from hips, 2.5" from thighs and a whopping 7.5" from abdomen!
Of course, no one notices because of the way I dress. But that's not the point. I am committed. So what's your story?
~ Oh, and here's my shoes from ebay ~ |
I'll be off to Patti's and the Visibles and Not Dead Yet Style, Catherine's I Will Wear What I Like and Cherie's Shoe and Tell, when they go live. See you there!
~ the end ~ |
Brava for your commitment to moving around! Exercise makes us feel young again (heh, well, it makes us feel good). Love, love this look, what brilliant fabric for your dress. xox

It's about time. I did think it was a funny thing to be wearing for my weight loss announcement. But that's me.
DeleteWell done for keeping your commitment to yourself.
ReplyDeleteFor the last couple of years I've been doing yoga every day and now I'm adding walking. It has totally changed how I function and kept my pain (mostly) at bay. Amazing!
Although I don't look nearly as cool....!

Yoga is so good. I've tried it on and off (mostly off) since the 60s. I didn't know you were in pain so I'm glad that works (mostly) for you. And heck, you always look good, and interesting too.
DeleteJust popping over from Visible Monday, I really love the colours and textures in your outfit. Congratulations on your exercise commitment , something I should embrace on a more regular basis.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Jill. I appreciate the compliment. As you are great at paying attention to all the little details, as well as the overall oeuvre of an ensemble!
DeleteMove it or lose it! Glad you stuck to your commitment with such great results. My informal exercise program (walking and gardening) keeps me healthy but doesn’t lead to any weight loss. :(
ReplyDeleteYou get around Louisa, like nobody's business. I could never keep up (as we know from experience!) You must have the metabolism of a humming bird, I tell ya.
DeleteLove your outfit, as always. Also your shoes, mainly because I have the same pair of Born's. Now I feel special.

Hi Bonnie, I know, I luv the texture of those shoes. Not to mention they're so comfortable. I'm sure you're special, even without them! Especially being in Provence.
DeleteHow pretty is your jacket, such vibrant colours. Jacqui Mummabstylish
ReplyDeleteYeah, fushia mixed with leopard does stand out. Thanks Jacqui.
DeleteI DID notice! I can see it in your face.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you have inspired me... MAYBE!
Hey Anne,
DeleteWell, it sure wasn't from any of these photos! But I'm happy to be an inspire-a-tor
anytime. And I only do it 3 times a week too!
I go to the gym three times a week, and my regimen is keeping up the physical therapy work/rolfing/yoga stuff I started 17 years ago. I've had plenty of setbacks (and a new hip) but if I don't lift some weights and row three times a week, I'm in misery.
ReplyDeleteHealth is gooooooooood.
Embellished corduroy. Huh. This is an idea I'd not had. Thank you for this idea.
Wow, you're busy being good and keeping out of misery. I see I'm in good company.
DeleteGood for you, you look spritely!
ReplyDeleteI started out working out with weight machines at the gym at work 3 years ago. This month I started Pilates classes they offered there as well. A new soreness.
Similarly I became sleeker. My daughter was surprised that there was less leg than there used to be inside my pants leg. I was happy to lose some weight and ecstatic not to have kept gaining! It was a run away train.
Yea Tess! That's the way to go. I didn't take advantage of the mini-gym where I worked long ago. But that was then, this is now and I'm okay.
DeleteThat's brilliant - well done, Pao! I doubt if anyone noticed my weight loss either but I felt like I walked taller and liked myself a lot more and that's all that matters , isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThe colour of that dress is just wow! xxx
I usually do that - until I see pictures of myself and then crash. Buoy myself up again, repeat. When will I ever learn, eh? Nevertheless, she persisted.
DeleteCongratulations! Your weight and inches loss is definitely praise-worthy. We really do have to make a point to keep moving as we get older, as the weight will just keep creeping on if we don't. I've gained 16 pounds in the last two years, God knows what would have happened if I hadn't been going to the gym twice a week.
ReplyDeleteYep. I've heard twice a week maintains, and 3 times a week helps with weight loss. Who knows? I'm amazed at the inches involved when the lbs. don't seem like much.
Deleteah yes, there's that possibility. Thank goodness for sewing!
