I'm wearing clothes I made at least 30 years ago. At least.
And now I can fit into them.
The top is a smidgen too small, the pants are bit too big.
But all in all, they fit well enough.
I have no idea what patterns were used.
The top is challis, the pants are stretch denim.
~ my haircut is the same ~ |
but I sure have aged.

Speaking of which, I'm Not Dead Yet Style is happening now at Patti's, so hop on over while you still can! Then it'll be Catherine's I Will Where What I Like when the time is right.
My friend - you really save your clothing, that's fantastic! And these pieces look fresh as when you made them at age 7! xox
ReplyDeleteYou made me laugh out loud, Patti.
DeleteThe styles look timeless. I don't know how you managed to hang onto them that long. Are congratulations in order for weight loss? You look wonderful. I wouldn't have thought to make my own jean trousers, I like the fuller look of these.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I guess they are. A wrap around top and big bell bottoms. Hanging onto things is something I'm good at. I usually refashion my old clothes to fit and they often look better than the original. But there's so many...I never, ever thought I would actually fit into any of them again. I've been on an exercise routine for a couple years, but kicked it up a notch this January with a food plan and it really made a difference. I've been able to count on losing between 2-3 lbs a month. woo-hoo.
DeleteEither that or hoarding, depending on which side of the fence you're on. I keep my "old" clothes (that don't fit or that need refashioning) on portable racks and/or rolled up on shelving units located in our upstairs enclosed porch off my sewing room. My secrets revealed!
ReplyDeleteThey tell you not to save clothes assuming you will lose weight, and I have let some stuff go (to good homes, people that will wear them) because they were making me feel bad. There are a couple I have kept purely because they are satisfying to admire, and a good home has yet to be found. We do what is good for us, not for what others think we should do. Be in good health and all the good stuff.
ReplyDeleteI save stuff to recycle them into things I will wear again. These just didn't make into the remix. And lo and behold, when I tried them on, they fit! I've given many, many pieces away too. Mostly things I didn't make. They seem easier to part with.
DeleteAnything I still have from 30 years ago is packed away in a trunk because it was something I loved, but is way too small for me now. That is such a lovely top, I'm glad you can get some wear out of it. Kudos to you for sticking to the food and exercise plan.
ReplyDeleteI do luv taking my old clothes and renewing them into something I like and can wear again.
DeleteI honestly thought: well I'm old now, so there's no way I'll be able to lose weight, etc. geez. What a myth that was. I feel so much better now, it's amazing.
Now that is definitely slow fashion! I love the top!
