Merrily I Sew Along...

and I've finished two pieces since returning home from the Blogger Mash-up in Vancouver.  Not counting the collaboration with Melanie's black silk top from my last post.

Hot off the Press, here they are:

~ all linen all the time ~

What I'm Wearing, ladies:
  • $1 store reading glasses
  • original work-of-art necklace by Melanie
  • hand-made floral linen tunic using Sandra Betzina designed Vogue 1456 pattern
  • hand-made lemon yellow cross-dyed handkerchief linen dress using McCall's 6954 pattern
  • pale pink, tan and yellow-green Diesel athletic shoes from e-bay.

~ Straight On ~

I must confess, I just luv the way these pieces drape and flow.  It is linen, though, but it's also the design.  I figured I better get cracking on the obviously summer-like fabric now, while it's still warm.

~ Am I getting any better at poses yet? ~
After all those lessons and prompts in Vancouver, I hope I can improve myself...

~ Guess not, but hey, I wanted ya'll to see the back view! ~

It's not about me.  It's all about the sewing, the design, the fabric, etc., etc., etc.

~ Oh, and the shoes, of course. ~

A big thank you to Sara for doing the photos (Elaine's on vacation).

  1. I love the way these drape and flow, too. Like late summer flowers. And is that a zip up front? Brilliant as always.

    1. Why yes, yes it is. In fact I bought that very zipper in Vancouver with nothing particularly in mind for it. When I got home I had a look through my fabric to see if I had anything that might "go" with it. And that was it.

  2. Nice colors, buddy. It's interesting how serendipitous our lives are, as you illustrate in your response to the previous comment.

    1. A huh, the more you go with the flow, the more it flows to you. Or something like that. From the zipper to the fabric, I found the pattern.

    1. I know, it cracked me up when I saw they were described as athletic shoes. They are comfy. Whatever I've just made is what I usually like best. (Don't tell the other pieces.)

  4. Pao! Did you take a poser pill? These are stunning photos. Clothes, hair, smile, stance. They are big and bright and all kinds of wonderful. You're definitely on a roll here - I can feel it beaming out at me. I love these new pieces and the yellow. Funny how one zipper can set a whole bunch of greatness into motion.

    1. Yeah, I was wondering what's with these pictures. I did just wash my hair...and it was an overcast day outside...same ole camera at the same ole settings...different person behind the camera? But they're so clear. I must've absorbed some posing power from the pros in Vancouver...

I love the colour play, how you've highlighted the blue and yellow.
The yellow linen fabric is killing me...I want!

  7. Oooh! Aahhh!!! You used your zipper! Hooray! I LOVE this outfit and obviously you've absorbed some awesome Posing Power from your Vancouver trip. (Not from me though, alas.) I might need to get that jacket pattern now.

    1. Yes, yes, I believe this top/ jacket thingy is just up your alley, Louisa. You'll just need a 24" separating zip, ya know.

  10. Excellent photos and a brilliant outfit! The larger sized photos make it soooo much easier to see the details of your creations. Tunic over dress = supercool, and I'm coveting the athletic ballet flat shoes.

  11. And yet another sewing piece. I love how you did a bright blue zipper in the middle to bring out that colour of the beautiful fabric. Do you do this as a hobby? Or are you a teacher. I am marvelled over the fact that Melanie's necklace is so good on this outfit.

    1. I just luv to sew, Greetje. And I haven't bought (new or thrifted) any clothes since I started this blog...except for shoes on ebay, that is. I think Melanie's necklace goes with everything - just like all good art.
