Portrait of Emilie Floge by Gustav Klimt |
So here I am posing in my closet wearing my true love's kimono (that I made for his birthday a couple years ago) along with my painted electric blue platform loafers. Yeah, that says Klimt all over.
The sun is shinning through the blinds and flashing on the kimono in stripes. |
I also tried to muss up my hair so it would stick out more. But hey, it's straight no matter what.
Check out what everyone else came up with at Style Imitates Art tomorrow. Meanwhile, I'm joining the Visibles at Patti's Not Dead Yet Style and hooking up with the crowd at Monday Mingle too. Let's meet up with Lakota at Ta-dah Tuesday and then Wednesday's Pleated Poppy while we're at it.
I've been up to some interesting stuff, but the show and telling of it will have to wait for another post/day.
Yes, I like your version of Klimt, colorful and sultry and so du jour : > Thanks for sharing it with Visible Monday!
ReplyDeleteHeeheehee, what a laugh, Patti.
DeleteFlaming cobalt, Batman!
ReplyDeleteAwesome.
I think I'm absorbing your aesthetic -- been wearing lots of pants under skirts/dresses lately.
You mean Batm'am, don't ya? Hey you've got a new little picture now. cool.
DeleteLovely kimono with blue flames, cause he's your flame, right?
ReplyDeleteIf I put this shot in my photo editor and made it more pixelated you'd look just like the Klimt painting with all the details.
okay, do it, do it!
DeleteThe electric blue trim on your beloved's kimono almost looks like graceful hands reaching upward, I'm sure in celebration. I also love the stripes created by the sun through blinds. And I agree with Patti!
ReplyDeleteI think it's my Zoolander look that does it.
DeleteI adore Klimt and was thrilled to see some original paintings at the Met. But girl, you honestly are on fire! You are totally fierce and very electric. You stun me, seriously.
ReplyDeletePao projects, can't wait!
Well, I do have the stun gun pointed right at cha. sigh, I'd love to be fierce and electric one day.
DeleteBeautiful kimono! I love them with your painted shoes. One day, I'm going to revitalize a pair of shoes like that. It just looks so goshdarned cool. Maybe the trippens I wore today, they are weathering pretty, but I bet they would look amazing with some color next season.
ReplyDeleteGasp! That sounds sacrilegious, Megan, the painting of trippens. Perhaps start out with some junk shoes that really need a spruce up.
DeletePatti is right, O sultry one! I love what you've done with body and hand position, excellent colour and pattern (!), and backdrop here. Glad that Style Imitates Art is back from holiday hiatus, I enjoy your interpretations very much
ReplyDeleteWho knew you could throw that all together in a closet and turn out something Klimty?! Thank goodness for Style Imitating Art or I never would've known.
DeleteYou shadow any piece of art, my dear pao.
ReplyDeleteAny chance of bigger photos, so we can see you in all your true splendour.
Much love and admiration, and so GLAD to have you back.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Yikes! I think that's the biggest photo of me yet. In some things I'm not so adventurous.
DeleteYou look so like the Klimt and it'll be fun to see Joni's version of your photo. I do love your kimono and those shoes.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting the bra pattern - I'm still waiting for mine & I'd love to get started.
I can't wait to see what others have styled from Klimt's inspiration.
DeleteSee you at the bra sew-along!
What stunning fabric! Are the flames are woven, printed or painted? You've captured the languid and slightly decadent air of Klimt's portrait beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThe flames are just part of the fabric and seem to me to be printed. Great description, and that's what I did, huh? cool.
DeleteWhat a great looking interpretation of the Klimpt ... don't you love kimono?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Yes I really do and have made several.
DeleteFor mussing hair, I've heard that horse tail wax(?) works well.
ReplyDeleteYou are positively Klimtian in this. Your name fits - "pao." The model is "Floge." Is that pronounced floog? I like it.
Those blue jewel tones are endless in depth and your shoes make me want to glue blocks of wood on the bottoms of flats. Platforms are where it's at! The kimono looks like a souped-up car with a hemi (whatever that is). Love it.
Yuk! for putting horse tail wax on this fine, thin, straight hair - shudder. I can only imagine. But thanks for the tip anyway. Let me know how the blocks of wood go. I've been so wanting to do a Trippen thing to mine. I know, I should at least be on a motorcycle with a matching helmet wearing that kimono don't ya think?
DeleteMy favourite from everyone's SIA versions is definitely yours, I really like the 90s seeping into the interpretation! Fun shoes! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's my first time taking part and it's great looking through all the posts!
Hi Madeline, I enjoyed your interpretation of Klimt too, especially the standing by the window being bathed by natural light ala Vermeer. I tried to leave a comment on your blog, but couldn't without registering (something I don't like doing). I loved your sketches.
DeleteGorgeous outfit--you really captured the painting!!
ReplyDeleteYou must have an awesome true love who's wear that cool kimono!!
Yes I do, and you can see him wearing it if you follow the links!
DeleteHappy New Year! What a great version of the klimt - I am amazed you made that kimino! It's amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt's the crazy fabric that does it + the sun shining in on it!
DeleteWow, this is a wonderful interpretation. The vividness of the blue is outstanding.
ReplyDeleteI too have fine straight hair. I try to curl it but it falls out almost instantly. I have had some luck with some products from Aquage. There is a gel and they also have a powder that can be added to other products to give texture.
You don't look at all like you have thin hair, it looks very full and gorgeous. After 60 years I'm kinda used to it as is. I've never done anything to it - it's even my natural color too.
DeleteBoy, did I learn a lot prowling around on your site this evening! You have to be one of the most interesting women in the world, Pao. I had never heard of lagenlook ... who knew! And I found "Style Imitating Art" and am looking forward to that. And WHAT an interesting site on Kimono. And old obesssion of mine coming back to roost ... that all started with Whistler's La Princesse du pays de la porcelaine (The Princess from the Land of Porcelain). See her again at:

And finally, discovering your own art!
Thanks so much for the most edifying evening I've had in a long time.
Oh my, please come visit any time, Jan. The side bars are always filled with deliciousness.
DeleteThat's really pretty cool. Sadly I have the kind of hair that is only to keen to muss itself up, basically just letting it dry naturally has it all frizzing round my head!
ReplyDeleteWell you would've been a perfect Klimt model then, Lakota!
