Quietly and Spot On

Let me tell you a little story about how the universe works.

The other day I'm in my studio, and my true love comes in with a bag of stuff, dumps it out on the floor, and lo and behold... There are my red Doc Martin's along with some colorful socks and athletic shoes that I had donated to the Salvation Army over 10 years ago.  Apparently the bag ended up in the basement instead.  (what was I thinking?)

A few weeks later, same scenario. This time another "donated" bag was found in the garage and out falls my purple suede oxfords, amongst other items.  Woo-hoo, I'd been missing those guys I gave away 10+ years ago.

At school last week, one of my students, out of nowhere gives me a bag of clothes she thrifted, saying they reminded her of me and I could use them for fabric!  (I'm always wearing wild outfits to the painting class and they know all about Project Minima.)  Oh my, such fabulousity.  I can't begin to describe how unique and beautiful the 3 pieces are.  I wouldn't want to cut into their gorgeousness and will wear them as is.  I'll have to take pictures.

The next day I receive an unexpected package in the mail from Canada?!?  My dearest Melanie sent me the most luxurious, scrumptious, golden, selections of fabric imaginable!  Words cannot describe their texture, weight, and luminosity.  ahhh, yes.

And here I was going to post about how befuddled I was feeling.  Silly, silly me.

  1. wow! those items you meant to donate so long ago were waiting for just the right time to spring out again and adorn you once more. No need to hit the satanic thrift store down the street, especially if your birthday has the number 6 in it anywhere!

    1. Oh no, it does! Do you think it's a sign to keep me from going in there. That would be good.

  2. That is so funny about your shoes - and great footwear karma to boot. I can't tell you how many times I've looked, sometimes for years, for "fave" items I've forgotten I donated :P

I can't wait to see the new-to-you duds and fabric. Blogs create magic :)

    1. I know, I absolutely couldn't believe it when he dumped them out on the floor - not once, but twice! Like a time capsule.

And then the gifts...smile, smile, smile

  4. Wonderful gifts that come from surprising places. Like the basement and the garage. The universe does work in mysterious ways! And from Melanie! I'm sure the fabric was 'out of this world.'

  5. How exciting! The return of beloved shoes, thrifted and gifted presents! So awesome. I'm more likely to actually donate on the fence items and miss them later. I have no hidey holes to stick things in because of limited space. Oh well, hopefully they made someone else happy.

Speaking of happy, I found a seller from Amsterdam with some flat-style Trippens for sale! She mailed me two pairs earlier this week and she's looking for me another pair. I'm so in awe and excited I don't feel at all bad about giving up the other ones.

    1. Yes, this is the same kind of thing happening. Although when I (supposedly) tossed them, they weren't beloved. I only appreciated them later when they were gone. So it goes.

Gifts out of nowhere are the best! Tidings of comfort and joy to you, dear Megan.

  6. This is too cool. It's like your old self knew that your now self would be in need of these things and the universe found a way to make this gift happen. Your student came bearing an abundance of wonderfulness as well. Ha! Life is grand.

    1. Just writing about it changed my mood around.
You know how you don't recognize "it" at first until the incidents start accumulating and it finally whacks you on the side of the head that something is happening here. yea, that's it. cool.

    1. I probably had to earn their trust back to set the karma straight, right? And then the flow was on.

    1. Whoa, that would be nice. Well it is my true love's studio - so you could very well say magic happens there.
