Rolling, Rolling...

as in Grant Wood's pastoral scenes.  Style Imitating Art references his painting Young Corn for today's inspiration.

And here I am planted in the scene:

Party Like It's...

Megan Mae's birthday bash.  Yes, I was there along with a host of other bloggers to celebrate her 23rd.  Check it out!

yeah, baby
I was a dancing fool.  But I couldn't help it.  Just look at those pants!  Plus the music was stellar.  Other than being a bit big, and stretchy and can see what they actually look like on my Clothes for Winter page.

Oh wait, I think I have an undistorted, relatively speaking, picture of me wearing 'em.  hmmm.  Yes, yes, here it is.  Oh my.  I look like a sculpture done in marble - or at least the pants do.

See it after the break!

Monday, January 7, 2013

Monday, Monday good to me,  Monday Monday, it was all I hoped it would be.  Yes!  What would it be like without the Visibles and Patti's at Not Dead Yet Style?!  I can't imagine.

Here I am, kinda fuzzy, but there nevertheless:

wearing sewing repeats (my big pocket skirt and kitchen curtain pantaloons), old stuff (pj lace top, pearls & star shell pin), and the velvet beaded blazer gift
yeah, check out those new-to-me cowboy boots!
Oh man, I am so bad, I have to stop.  These were another e-bay thing, but they fit perfectly and are really comfy, soft leather and cost under $20 bucks.  But still.  Not a good trend.  After this, I'm going to quit.  I blame everyone else for my downfall.  Yes, I'm in total denial...maybe.

Okay, I'll be joining everyone at Patti's Not Dead Yet Style as well as the crowd at Monday Mingle.  See you there!  Then hooking up with Lakota's Ta-dah Tuesday and the Pleated Poppy.

Fabrics & Frocks From Fabulous Friends

As the new year opens, I want to acknowledge the wonderful friends who have sent fantastic fabric and fabulous frockery my way.

You won't believe the spectacle of amazingness you are about to see.  Many thanks go to Melanie from blogland; P from school; and my gal gang E, S and V.

See all the pics after the break...

Pat in the Hat

After saying I don't wear hats...I made some.  I thought I'd give it a try with some knit fabric a friend gave me.  I remembered I did have a few patterns for hats that came along with coats/jackets.   So I looked them up and settled on two that looked do-able.   Testing, One, Two...Ready?

You know I'm not going to waste a perfectly good circle of leftover fabric.   My first foray into sewing with knits happened a week or so ago when I made a top out of another gorgeous print from E's leftover stash.  You can see it on my Clothes for Winter page.  I even bought one of those double needles to use with it.  I don't know why I've avoided knits all this time...I guess I always thought they would be clingy or itchy.  Not necessarily true.  What do you think of knits?  To wear or to sew...
