All Worked Out

on MeMadeMay'18, Day #4.

~ and downing a 'cold one' in my workout wear ~

The top is newly made (and really not finished, but what the hay?).  It started off from Tina Givens Olivia pattern and never made it into the cut and frill stage.  Yep, a plain vanilla Olivia.  You can see the others I've made here and here .  I think the print was enough as is.

~ Hey, something's growing in our garden ~

I made the pants long ago out of some thin knit using McCall's 6404 leggings.  Although I made them really large so they wouldn't be skin tight.  I never really wore them much until lately.  I was surprised to see how well they seemed to "go" with the top when I got dressed this morning.  All that geometric patterning.

~ Speaking of which... ~

I had actually cut out the pattern for the back to be the front and vice versa.  But when I tried it on, the mandala shape going on behind was a big no no.  When I reconfigured it (by cutting and sewing pieces to fit) with the mandala on front, what a difference.  Luckily I had this crazy print, so no one was the wiser.

Cooler By A Long Shot

MeMadeMay'18, Day #3

and just in time to wear my newly made polka dotted sweatshirt jacket.

~ for MeMadeMay, Day #3 ~

I used Marcy Tilton's very old and out of print Vogue 8620 jacket pattern.  It got such great reviews, I couldn't resist.  I did make it much larger so I could actually wear it over things, not just like a suit jacket.  I also made it 7" longer.  Oh, and I added a draw string around the huge collar, so I could scoop it up around my neck if I was chilly.  The pattern instructions were great and very easy to follow.

~ I made the rest of the stuff too ~

The pants are a tiny dotted stretch denim.   I used Tina Givens Norma Jeans pattern for them.  The top is dark gray cotton I made long ago with matching pants.  Later I added scrap bits of embroidered silk to edge the bottom.  And made a narrow scarf with what I had leftover.  You can see that ensemble here.

I simply must link up with Spy Girl with my real bonafide polka dots today.

Apres Working Out

on MeMadeMay'18, Day #2.

~ I was working it, bay-bee! ~

~ 'course I did change my shoes ~

But otherwise I was wearing stuff you've seen (that is, if you've been here before)...The silk dupioni harem pants rifting off Vogue 1355, you can see here.  The top is self-drafted in nylon mesh.  Both things are as light as air and I always wear them for my monthly weigh in.  (Hey, I lost 3 lbs. this month!)

And the obligatory shoe shot, this time in the "garden."

~ dirt-colored Trippens from ebay ~

 Until tomorrow...

Me Made May'18, Day #1

~ head to toe in silver gray ~

I made both these items earlier in the year, but never got them photo-ed.  So now is the time.  gah.  Imagine me taking pix and blogging every day this month!  Let's not mention that I only posted once in April.

Well, the dress was a quick make from New Look 6525.  I made it twice, the other view is here.  This one is an even softer, thinner knit than the other.

~ my bug hat ~

I used McCall's 7519 hat pattern view C to get it going, modifying as I went.  The fabric is fleece, so very easy to sew.  And I just so happened to have a smidgen of silver netting for the veil.  Poifect, if I do say so myself.

~ creation ~

An apropos pin from a zillion years ago...

Last but not least, my Cylon sox, and Jeffrey Cambell silver oxfords (which I'm sure they wear together).

~ el ebay shoes ~

With that I'm finally getting my act together to join Patti and the Visibles at Not Dead Yet Style, Catherine's I Will Wear What I Like, Cherie's Shoe & Tell, Spy Girl's Polka Dots (do you think this can squeeze by?) and of course, MeMadeMay'18 (or my MeMadeMay page on the blog).  phew.  Oh, oh, and Judith's Hat Attack!

Exercise That!

~ And I did. ~

~ Yeah, I finally got off my tush ~

... and started an exercise regime a year ago on April 1.  No kidding.

~ In fact, this is one of my exercise ensembles ~

Except for the shoes, of course.  Then I wear my silver, flat soled, slip-on, Trippens.

This is all old stuff, just never worn together before.  A Tina Givens Olivia Tunic Pattern made out of really stretchy thin jersey knit and a Tina Givens Phoebe Pants Pattern made out of embellished corduroy.

But here's the really good news:  After one year of exercising regularly, with no change in my diet, I lost 11 lbs.  Otherwise I'm sure I would have gain weight.  Which is one of the things I've been doing each year as I get older.
(Tell me about it.)

But even cooler are all the inches I've lost.  In comparing the measurements taken a year ago, to today's --- I've lost .5" from biceps, 2" from bust, 2" from waist, 2.5" from hips, 2.5" from thighs and a whopping 7.5" from abdomen!

Of course, no one notices because of the way I dress.  But that's not the point.  I am committed.  So what's your story?

~ Oh, and here's my shoes from ebay ~

I'll be off to Patti's and the Visibles and Not Dead Yet Style, Catherine's I Will Wear What I Like and Cherie's Shoe and Tell, when they go live.  See you there!

~ the end ~
