Mission Possible Position

Yes, it's one of those days.
Nevertheless, I didn't want to miss out on my big date with Patti and the Visibles at Not Dead Yet Style.  Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

Moving onward and upward.  Here we have my hand-sewn, with primary colors variegated thread, a hunter green jersey knit Lotus duster.  The rest of the pix are so bad they can't be seen.  I've already redone the fastening device and plan to do so again soon.  Another story...

Actually I've been sewing like mad, a least a dozen or more lovely pieces, but no photos.  Bad at photos.  And now I was just working on a lousy pj top and scorched the ivory cotton a nice toasty brown.  grrrrr.  grrrrr.   So rather than go down that road, I thought I'd share a success with you all.
For myself, really.  But you can look if you want.

How to Wear a Flannel Sheet

When we last saw each other, I was standing in the midst of a Chicago snow storm, dressed in all white.  Well, here's what I was wearing underneath that first frost-free layer:
my Lotus duster

A refashioned ivory flannel sheet and cotton pillow case with curtain lace embellishments.
the ensemble complete
Twas very cozy.  Now the cotton pillow case top was refashioned during early days at Project Minima.  Then was re-refashioned not too long ago with crocheted curtain lace for sleeves and pockets.  Archived in the Clothes From Somewhere or Other...

just the pjs
What is recent is a pair of bloomers made from a flannel sheet testing out the Phoebe pants from a Tina Givens pattern.  I really like them and they're a snap to make.  They have no side seams, off side seam pockets, pleated bottoms with binding, and I used a drawstring rather than elastic at the top.

But the real pièce de résistance is my Lotus duster done Alabama Chanin-like from yet another Tina Givens pattern that I've already made 4 times.  It looks dramatically different in each of the fabrics I've used for it.  And, I haven't posted any of them yet!!!!

You Can Fake It 'til You Make It

~ fabric detail from my newly made dress ~

Especially now that my sewing studio is fit as a fiddle, clean as a whistle, and in top notch shape.

But not right now ... I have a headache.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
not faking it
yeah, but you can't see the dress, kiddo
ok, whoosh, I'm up & moving
ditto
how's that?
well, better.  how about a front view?
fine, ok?
okay, okay.
For a real look at the cartoon dress, close-up, check out the Clothes from Winter page.  We'll get her over to Patti and the Visibles at Not Dead Yet StyleThat should liven her me up.
Oh, I should mention that the dress pattern is by Tina Givens, called Etre.  I used two different cotton fabrics: "Home Sewing is Easy" by Alexander Henry and the obnoxiously titled "Country Weekend" (images of art supplies?!) by Hoffman International Fabrics.
Fashion and Cleaning: Work Out
Must break my cleaning schedule to visit with Patti and the Visibles.  You know that can't be missed, right?
~ wearing another of my December beauties ~
Attention! Dork!
This pattern is called Adele by Tina Givens and I am looking pretty dorky here.  But I do think my refurbished 1950s bow-tie on a bolero (she means bolo) looks cool.  And my Alice in Wonderland knee socks.  ooo and my dark red Trippens for $50 bucks on ebay.
Well I gotta get back to cleaning now...
It was sure nice seeing you all again!
You can hang around if you want and visit my Clothes for Winter page (which I finally updated) to see this dress and the velvet one up close and in detail.
I'm really making progress on my sewing studio massive mission impossible.  I did have to destroy a couple other rooms in the process, but I'll get to them some time...in the future.  I mean, I can't delay sewing forever already.
This just in:  Rhonda announced Me Made Mondays are back!  Hope on over and see what the sew sisters are up to.
And this too:  It's Sheila's Shoe Shine and I'm there.  Join us.
