The State of Project Minima: Year 3, 2nd Qtr.

Time flies.  And so do I, in circles, orbiting around my Mom's downward spiral, now in hospice.  sigh.

painting by Irene Ferguson

Everything is okay, as well as can be, all things considered.  yeah.

I've been sewing this quarter anyway, although not picture-taking.  yet.
And I've just heard I'm next in line for the Traveling Yellow Skirt!
How cool is that?!
Just what the doctor ordered to get me out of the blues
and into sunshine yellow blogospheric fashion is serious sistah blissness.

Can I get it together to do stats...?  I don't have anything posted that I made this quarter so it's not so easy to do...hmmm.

Ed. note:  I've just posted all the items made in Fall Quarter on the Clothes for Fall page.

  • Okay, well, my obsession with ebay shoes/boots has subsided.  That is after a real rush in October.  I think I'm done with it now.  It was part of my de-stress sessions. (That, and napping.  Major napping, like very long naps, several times a day, with cats.)
  • Eventually, I was able to sew again after making only 1 thing last quarter:
  • 2 necklaces created from bits and bobs
  • camel-colored velveteen print pants made, remodeled, failed
  • wild cotton print/ wild designed sleeveless top/vest/smock
  • subdued mauve, sheerish, dotted swiss, blouse
  • dress with black striped knit top, black leather suspenders and black gauze drapey skirt
  • tie-dyed green to hot pink with gold elephants cotton print amazing zip up dress
  • lovely reversible burgundy velvet, crushed deep orange organza, Egyptian tapestry and copper lame trimmed coat.
  • Re-started the Sewing Rebellion last month, rotating our monthly meetings at each other's house.  And gained another rebel!  (Haven't posted anything on that yet either.)
  • Oh, and one of the students in my watercolor class had inexplicably started to paint whatever I wore to class that day.  Susan stated I was "inspirational" and that these paintings are being turned into a calendar for 2014!!  Oh my.  Talk about making my day!

I look forward to getting back on track, or something like it.  I miss...everything.

  1. Hello Pao!! You're going to be a calendar girl. Bwa-ha-ha, that is too much fun and understandable because you are such an inspiration. Now that your boot/shoe phase is over, what's next I wonder. No rush. It's a difficult time and I'm sad about your mum's spiral. I hope the yellow skirt will be a little sunshine and happy distraction... One day at a time. Happy to hear from you. I'd make you a pot of tea if I were there (but only if you like tea).

    1. Hiya Melanie! So nice to be in communicado once again. Ha, you were the one to be the calendar girl and somehow there was this switcheroo blooper thing...I think it may be scarves, the new obsession phase. I've been buying them on ebay for pennies from China (yes, it is true, tsk-tsk.) Yes, The Yellow Skirt is coming any day now. How the universe provides. And I'd love a cup of tea with you any time. Shall we make a date? My place or yours? Or somewhere in between...

  2. Dear Pat, I am so glad for news of you, though some of it's tough as can be. I wish your mom good care. Thrilled to hear of your imminent Yellow Skirt adventure, and all the sewing action, what intriguing descriptions, and rumblings of Rebellion - yeah!!! Like Melanie, I'm not surprised about the calendar, that's my kind of pin-up right there. :)

    1. Hey Ms. Amber, I think we bloggettes should all get together to produce our own calendar. Perhaps a yellow skirted one...? We certainly are all stylin' pin-up gals. I loved seeing all the grown-up chick pix, plus kitty on your blog, by the way.

    1. Hi Vix, It's so wonderful to hear from you again. I've caught up reading, but haven't had the heart to comment yet on posts. Yes, it was certainly a honor to be painted each week by Susan and then turned into a calendar to top it off.

  4. Pao...I can't seem to find adequate words for my thoughts, but consider yourself wrapped in a cyber hug. Having been through a similar passage with my Dad, I totally relate to the full body fatigue, and the reaching for mind-numbing activity as a way to de-stress. Cope as best as you can during this difficult time. Although creativity and passion may feel muted now...it's still there...and will resurface when the time is right.

Just tracked *the package*, and it is in the US, and expected delivery is Tuesday!

    1. Thanks Sue, for your kind words. I am in and out of overwhelmingness without a moment's notice several times a day, it seems. But, oooo, the package is in the air, about to magically appear at my doorstep in 2 days time. I'm only letting myself feel excitement about it. You we fantastic with it as Snow.

    2. I mean you were fantastic, utterly brilliant, with it as Snow.

  5. So sorry about your mom's situation, pao. It happens to all of us eventually one way or the other but that doesn't seem to make it any easier. Your feelings are what they are. Big gentle cyber hugs for you both!

Can't wait to see what magic you will make with the yellow skirt when it comes to you.

    1. Yeah, my dad just dropped dead when I was 15, but this is a whole 'nother kind of story... Thanks for those hug vibrations, Louisa.

I am ready for the potent magical yellow skirt right about now!

    1. Oh thank you, Tamera, for your kind thoughts. Peaceful might be part of it, but I suspect it'll be packed with all sorts of stuff along the way. You know how life (and death) goes...

  7. I was ecstatic to hear you were the next recipient of the yellow skirt, not only because I want to see what you do with it, but also because I know first hand the kind of magical healing power it possesses. We miss you terribly, you know, but certainly understand your absence. It's a hard journey, I know.

I love you as a calendar!! There will be a number of us who will be happy to buy. :-) I also think that the yellow skirt journey would make an awesome calendar as well. Then we'd both be calendar girls!!

    Take care. Love you.

    1. Hi Lynzee, Yes, I'm ready for some magical power. So you've experienced the yellow skirt too? Or are you one of the TYS ladies-in-waiting? I'd like to visit your blog, but couldn't find it. Thanks for your support.
