Luxe Up

Slid back into Winter temps in Chicago today.  So here I am lounging about in some luxurious fabrics that I've turned into stuff.  Ready?

Let me set the stage.  That's Tree Bark Women peaking over my shoulder and Albertine strutting past.

I'm wearing velvet, satin, suede, "gold" and slinky knit

Phoebe velvet bloomers, Ophelia knit top (both Tina Givens patterns), Simplicity suede & satin kimono top.

Also made the jewelry, but you really can't see the two necklaces and bracelet...

Man Dress

I couldn't resist this fabric, the guy is life-size already.  However it's narrow in width, so the challenge was figuring out how to best use it.  


Enter my true love, stage left, er, down.  He gets a kick out of it.  Wanna see?  Sure you do.  Ready?

Mission Possible Position

Yes, it's one of those days.

Nevertheless, I didn't want to miss out on my big date with Patti and the Visibles at Not Dead Yet Style.  Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

Moving onward and upward.  Here we have my hand-sewn, with primary colors variegated thread, a hunter green jersey knit Lotus duster.  The rest of the pix are so bad they can't be seen.  I've already redone the fastening device and plan to do so again soon.  Another story...

Actually I've been sewing like mad, a least a dozen or more lovely pieces, but no photos.  Bad at photos.  And now I was just working on a lousy pj top and scorched the ivory cotton a nice toasty brown.  grrrrr.  grrrrr.   So rather than go down that road, I thought I'd share a success with you all.
For myself, really.  But you can look if you want.

How to Wear a Flannel Sheet

When we last saw each other, I was standing in the midst of a Chicago snow storm, dressed in all white.  Well, here's what I was wearing underneath that first frost-free layer:

A refashioned ivory flannel sheet and cotton pillow case with curtain lace embellishments.

Twas very cozy.  Now the cotton pillow case top was refashioned during early days at Project Minima.  Then was re-refashioned not too long ago with crocheted curtain lace for sleeves and pockets.  Archived in the Clothes From Somewhere or Other...

What is recent is a pair of bloomers made from a flannel sheet testing out the Phoebe pants from a Tina Givens pattern.  I really like them and they're a snap to make.  They have no side seams, off side seam pockets, pleated bottoms with binding, and I used a drawstring rather than elastic at the top.

But the real pièce de résistance is my Lotus duster done Alabama Chanin-like from yet another Tina Givens pattern that I've already made 4 times.  It looks dramatically different in each of the fabrics I've used for it.  And, I haven't posted any of them yet!!!!
