~ Reclining Head Self Portrait, encaustic on wood, Otto ~ |
(heheh.) With my sewing, that is. All else has been a little behind. Okay, a great big ole behind. (heheh.) But let's not get into t-h-a-t.
I'm finally showing my face with the Visibles at Patti's Not Dead Yet Style. Before it's too late and the party's over for the summer. Too bad there's no pictures to show you of any of my hand made clothes. [there's a big pause here while I swallow all my negative thoughts].
I have made lots of stuff I like. Been thinking I need to revamp the blog, or maybe restart one. It's no longer really Project Minima anymore. Project Post-Minima? Any advice from you guys when you've found that what you started out doing has changed into another focus point? Does it work best to just pack it up and start over with a new blog? Or just continue on as is, but with a different point of view?
More later, and sooner.
I saw your head and thought immediately that there's a glowy contemplative look about it. I love encaustic. I've never tried it but the effect is stunning. You have a beautiful head!
ReplyDeleteAs for blogging - I guess you can do whatever your like, which is not much of an answer at all. The point is - I keep reminding myself - to satisfy yourself first and foremost. No rules. I know I love your sewing but it's the person behind the needle and thread that keeps me coming back.
Encaustic is the bees' knees. I worked with it for years on wood, mixing my own concoctions of melted bees' wax and damar crystals, layering it with veils of oil paint and sweeps of a propane torch. Fabulous process.
DeleteThanks Melanie. A very good reminder, in deed. There are no rules for blogging and I especially don't have to "make sense" and follow my own. It's all NO BIG DEAL.
I just recently found your blog and LOVE it. Project Minima…or not. My vote…do what you want, but please do keep posting! And, make sure you let us know where to go if you start something new.
ReplyDeleteTell it like it is, bohemiannie! art. I see I no longer need to wallow in any obsessive self-consciousness. Just pao now, right?
DeleteLove the head - and your blog. I think it's cool to switch focus when the mood strikes. That's one of the benefits of being self employed (as a blogger) - no Standard Operating Procedures. Make yourself happy with your blog. Thanks for linking up to Visible Monday, too, and I cannot wait to meet you in Vancouver. xo
ReplyDeleteCommunication is the key, innit? You all are so right, silly me. I know, when I saw your side bar, I was like, alright, a Vancouver mash up in the making. I am so excited about it.
DeleteFantastic head - the process sounds like hard work, making it all the more fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you have to start a new blog, this one can still change course, and we will follow :-) In my opinion that's the most exciting part of blogging, following someone's journey, seeing things evolve and be taken to new aspects of life!
What everyone else said! Just post occasionally, OK? So we know how things are in pao's little corner of the world.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for everyone to come to my little corner here in Vancouver!
The best blogs are a reflection of the person is writing it, so if your feel like your direction has changed, then go with it. My blog has evolved from a strictly street-style photo blog to a visual diary of the life of a 50-something square peg living in a round hole and I've gained and lost followers along the way. It takes a ridiculous amount of time and energy to keep a blog going, so you have to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is change your blog to reflect what you want it to be. Packing up and moving to a new URL means creating a new reader base. It also means leaving behind everything you created on your old blog.
ReplyDeleteMegan Mae Daily originally began as a cooking blog. I made the mistake of moving URLs as I swapped to a strict fashion blog. Now it's a mix of fashion and slice of life, but I let my blog reflect my chances.
I saw keep the URL, revamp the blog if you feel like you need a new visual space, but also keep your readership where they know where you are!
Is it the name that makes you feel you need to move and start again?
ReplyDeleteYou could subtitle it (is that the word?) to explain the change in focus.
We all love your take on life as well as your sewing masterpieces. I must say I would miss them, but they aren't the only draw.
I love your head! xo Jazzy Jack
I've made changes now and then and a brand new blog is always fun. It's a great feeling really. Your fans will follow you wherever you go!
ReplyDeleteI love your self portrait!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to find out if you've sent me your info for the 40+ blogger meet-up. I needed a 1-4 sentence bio about yourself, your personality and your blog as well as one photo that best represents you.
Looking forward to getting it! I'm putting them all up on the 40+ Blogger page...
bisous
Suzanne
Hey Pao!!! I feel you here. I have no answers for either one of us. Hopefully I won't lose you though! Have a good week and see what it brings. Who knows?!! XXOO
ReplyDeleteDear Pao, So happy to be commenting again and love the head. About blogging. I've made so many transitions over the years, and just keep on writing about it. On the same blog. But I'm sure that you will come up with the perfect plan for you. So many possibilities and you are so talented. I will always follow you, no matter what you do!
