I Got Birkenstocks!

How in the World did that Happen?  You may ask yourself.

~ Well, let me tell you...~

I was already dressed like this, complete with the anklets, when they came in the mail from ebay.

~ I had to put them on immediately, of course ~

And dash off for the camera, ooo-ing and aahh-ing all the way.

~ so much better than the gray Nike sandals I had been wearing ~

puleeze

Before I get to the centerfold shot, I simply must say a few words about the ensemble (which I have worn before).  I'ts a lightweight, pale blue linen shirt dress made from a Vogue Miyake pattern #1544 and last seen on me, here.

~ Les Golden Leather Birkenstocks ~

They looked as though they hadn't been worn before and no one was bidding for them?!  Well, almost no one.  Like 3 people and I won them for $21.00!  I guess it's cuz they were Mary Janes and not the popular sandals.  I usually don't even bother bidding for Birkenstock sandals because no matter how gross and used they are, people bid up to and over hundreds of dollars for them.  yuck.  But there was no action on these babies.  Yeah for me.

I think I'll wear them to bed.

And certainly to Patti and the Visibles at Not Dead Yet StyleOh, and Judith's July Hat Attack! too.  Let's not forget Catherine's I'll Wear What I Like.  Do stop on by.

  3. Haha, how did they do in bed?! You really have unique shoe-radar! I just popped in to get inspiration. I'm making a pair of linen lantern pants (they should be done today) and thought of you. I was even thinking if I might find a vintage tablecloth to make another pair {wink}. I haven't sewn for myself in y-e-a-r-s and am having fun.

    1. I'll never tell. ah, I thought you had mentioned you didn't sew. Oh yes, I see, not for a long time. Well, good for you doing it now. And linen is the best to work with and to wear, don't you think?

  4. Those are definitely the coolest Birks I've seen. I can't wear them at all because they are cut very straight up the inside of the foot, and my bunions just hang over the side (not a good look). If I COULD wear them, I would wear these.

    1. Oh my, and here I thought Birkenstocks were for everyone since they seem so wide. I've never seen any like these particular ones, but I've never looked for them either. I luv the color.

  5. Whoa! SCORE!! Your eagle eye. Your deft bidding finger. Look at them sparkers! Good one. But make sure you bag your shoes before you go to bed - you need to protect them. And the dress, yes, another summer winner. I've been going backwards through these. Sigh. Again.

    1. What fun running into you backwards, Melanie. I must confess, I only wore them to bed once. My dress looks like a bed shirt anyway, don't you think?
