Yea for Fall Layers

~ It feels good ~

~ Just relaxing into it ~

~ the side view ~

I'm wearing all stuff I've made awhile ago.  But never worn altogether before.  The hat is hand sewn from old t-shirts and seed beads a la Alabama Chanin. I've made at least 2 so far.  The beautiful scarf was given to me from a friend via the Salvation Army.  And the sunglasses are from the $ store.

The coat is from The Sewing Workshop Thai Coat pattern made in black and gold brocade.  It's the second one I've made.

The overdress is from The Sewing Workshop, the Verenda Dress, much modified and made in a scuba knit print.  The underdress is from Tina Givens Sam Dress pattern, much modified, made in striped georgette.  Also the second one made.

~ I made it so I can wear it backwards or frontwards ~

~ with my lovely shoes from ebay ~

And that's a wrap.  I'll be linking up with Patti and the Visibles when she goes live at Not Dead Yet Style.  And Catherine at I Will Wear What I Like.  Also Judith's Hat Attack for October.  Hope to see you there!

  2. I just love your creativity--who would have thought to extend the shoulder into a belted sleeve?? I really like the ease of the Thai coat.

    1. Actually, I was inspired by a pin I saw. I talked about it here https://projectminima.blogspot.com/2018/03/i-made-something-really-cool.html

    1. Don't you just luv layering? It's so much fun seeing what can go together and what goes over or under. Fall is good. Winter? Not so grand.

    1. Pattern adaptations are a must, one way or another, for fit or style or personal preference. And layering is just too much fun. Am I right? Yes.

  5. This outfit is such a fabulous, funky layering party! I love a good brocade coat, and the patterns of the under-dresses work so well together.

    1. Hey Shelley, Jacquard and brocade are the best. I do have a stash, I must say. I just stumbled across a designer who uses both in a way I luv. Gary Graham. https://garygraham422.com/products/venice-tapestry-and-leather-big-shirt-jacket
I've lots of ideas on the way...

  6. I thought it had a 20s vibe too, Valerie. I don't know what exactly does it...the combo of the hat, long scarf, shoes, cocoon shaped coat???
