yeah... |
I must say I've been heavily influenced by Sacramento's Golden Spider Broach!
And that's it folks! Oh, the Barbie accessories all came from my very own Barbie Doll, when they first came out and I was 11 years old, thank you very much. What year was that now? I still have her and all her clothes, oh and the cardboard Dream House. Ken's pjs are there, but no sign of him or Midge anywhere....
Ah, I'm experiencing severe bling envy.
ReplyDeleteOh Lynne, they are cute, aren't they? Maybe I can wear them all at once, do ya think?! nah,...bugs and barbie really don't go together. But bugs and bugs do!
DeleteWhat a fine show! I've been thoroughly entertained once again, in your fine blogospere. I love love love how you've put the huge golden beetle with the pearls. I think that big bug is the perfect compliment and knocks down the refinement of the pristine pearls oh so perfectly.
ReplyDeleteVery cool Barbie accessories added too. I remember some of those. My favorites though were those little black painted on shoes on the really old dark haired Barbies. She also had purple eyeshadow. Remember her?
and I just took another look at that art. Whoa, very different. Almost eerie and futuristic.
DeleteYes, that's the one I have, the dark hair, pony tailed Barbie, but she doesn't have painted on shoes - no way! And big fat eyelashes with bright colored eyelids, I forget now if it's blue or purple. I'll have to check.
DeleteI love the artwork, can't get enough of it. You can click on the artist's name to see more.
I am so honoured, my dear Pao, ahhhhhhhhhhhh
ReplyDeleteYour beetle has pearl eyes, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Fantastic.
have a lovely weekend, my dear friend.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Yes, I owe it all to you, dear Sacramento!
DeleteGold bug on pearls. Classic and inspired by Sacramento. What could be better?
ReplyDeleteI just don't know...yet!
DeleteI think I really need those pearls with the bug. I don't wear necklaces much but I'll make an exception in this case. I'm absolutely in love with it.
ReplyDeleteI never had Barbies. They came out after my doll days. I had a few Ginny dolls but I was never particularly obsessed with them. The Barbie-embellished necklace is impressive, too. Barbie would be proud, I think.
It's a too easy DIY, Jean, go for it! Hmm, don't know Ginny...
DeleteWell, well, well, that gold beetle pin with the strands of pearls is truly a masterpiece. I like the other beetle and Barbie too, but my heart is with the beetle pin with the pearls. WOW! This combo is timeless.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit of sweet and creep, just what's needed to keep things balanced, I think. Along the lines of your praying mantis and x-mas ornament necklace, wouldn't you say?
DeleteThe pearl eyes! The snowflake-antler legs AND the big juicy legs! Pincers!!! Wee Barbie accessory charms! No wonder you want to wear them all at once, me too! Amazing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to Maurizio Anzeri's work - fantastically creepy and makes me so happy.
They do all kinda go together - I mean, my jewelry and Anzeri's embroidered photographs, don't they? In fact, they should be wearing them.
DeleteThe art work is incredibly spooky (in a good way) and I'm totally digging your incredible jewellery. Your Sacramento-inspired bugs are a vision of loveliness! x
ReplyDeleteAh yes Vix, they're scarabs actually, ancient Egyptian scarabs, I believe...both cursed and priceless or so I've been told.
DeleteOh my dear pao...i LOVE all of your pieces...but especially the golden bug +pearls...yes, yes, YES!!!
ReplyDeleteThey just seem to have that je ne sais quoi, the pearls and beetle together.
DeletePao, those embroidered paintings are grotesque but in such a fascinating way. That was probably the artistic intention though right? I keep going back to look at them.
ReplyDeleteI want to click on the Barbie stuff, but I don't seem to have that option. I'll keep trying. As usual you come up with the most interesting, creative, stuff in the world!
hmmm, I don't know what was happening...just a slow connection perhaps? Thanks for not giving up, Sheila! Grotesque is the perfect word for them.
DeleteOh wow! as soon as I left my last comment the pics came up! Those beetles are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteand for the beetles too!
DeleteOooh the beetles are so gorgeous! I am totally buggy about bug fashion gear. Reminds me I need to give my scorpion belt a wear soon.
ReplyDeleteooo, bug fashion gear, now that's how to say it, Megan Mae!
DeleteEmbroidered photos? Now that's something I've never heard of. Thanks for introducing it to us. The delicate legs on the golden Bug Brooch make it even more beautiful -- kinda creepy, but beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHmm, suspicious that Ken and Midge are no where to be found. I wonder what those two are up to.
I know! I haven't the foggiest what happened to them, but I know I received them sometime later after my first love, Barbie. And I wasn't in to Ken at all. hmmmm. Maybe my mother...
DeleteHow gorgeous! Very inspirational :) Thanks for sharing on Recycled Fashion Finds
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for hosting Recycled Fashion Finds, Erica.
