~I bought something, the first thing in 1 year & 3 months: a pair of shoes! Sandals to be exact, on sale at Marshall's - for my 60th b'day.
~Then I got pneumonia.
~I've often been a nervous wreck about health insurance and work. The Reader has been decimated and sold to The Sun Times and my true
love has been transferred thereafter being cut to part-time with no benefits.
~I received a Leibster Award from a rocking blogster and I nominated 11 others for the award.
~We helped my Mom pack and move from her house to a Senior Retirement Community last week - and - she just loves it!
~Oh, and my exercise program is on hold - the pneumonia stopped that in the bud.
See what I mean, much of this has nothing to do (directly) with refashioning.
Wow, you went a whole year and a half without buying anything new? Fantastic! So sorry to hear that you've been sick though. That zaps the energy right out of you I'm sure. Get recovered very soon!
ReplyDeleteIt was actually a whole year and 3 months of not buying anything (used or new). I don't know why I ended up buying shoes. I guess it was just to do it. I haven't any cravings to buy anything else... And I'm on the mend (heh heh) from the pneumonia, energy-wise, thanks.
DeleteAs you are new-to-me, I appreciate this state-of-things update! Glad you're feeling better, and that your mom loves her new home. I love the image you chose to go with this post!
ReplyDeleteHi Amber, Thanks for visiting and your well wishes. I love the painting too. All her images are divine. Check out Marieloes' website. You can get there by clicking on her name under her painting
DeletePao, I don't know how you did it, one year and 3 months without shopping. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about the pneumonia. If things get really bad, at least go to the ER and get checked out. They can't turn you away.
Thanks for sharing a bit of your everyday life.
It was easy - not shopping - once I inventoried everything I had, the idea of buying even more was very distasteful. Then I had all that extra time and creative energy left over for refashioning what I didn't like/ want into what I did want or need. A win-win situation.
DeleteThanks for your thoughtfulness.
I love this post because it's like refashioning a garment. I can see you standing back to assess what you've already done, wondering if a little scrap of tulle should be added or a sleeve cut off. Remembering when you last wore the garment before you change it. Wondering if you really want to work on it now or go get some tea and cookies.
ReplyDeleteThat's what this post makes me think of-it's the same process. It makes me happy. I haven't had a chance to post about my award, but I really will. I appreciated your comments about not stressing about it.
I'm glad your mom is happy. It makes all the difference. I love that painting too, and will check out the artist. Feel better!!!!!!! Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Wow Jean, way to go to make me feel good about myself! Yea, what you said, that's what I'm doing. Thanks a million.
DeleteI'm so sorry about pnumonia and your love's job! Stressful! I hope you had a happy 60th despite it all!
ReplyDeleteThanks Vivienne. When I get stressed and can't shake it, I curl up on the love seat in the bed-sitting room with a cat and take a nap. ahhh, such relief. There's been a lot of that going on around here lately. My motto is: if I can't be here now, I'd rather be there (asleep).
