Spring Shoe Review

image from microgardner.com.
It's a new season so I've been going through the back of my closet to find all those old shoes I never wear.  That self-imposed shopping ban really has me looking at every thing with new eyes.

Two pair of shoes were selected for a quick make-over and came out the better for it.

An old pair of navy suede sandals with a broken buckle and shabby surface got a once over with dark blue glitter glue.  The kind that comes in a squeeze tube for kids.  It evened out the tone and left a subtle glitter look when they catch the light.  And I reattached the buckle with some strong glue.

Next up for treatment was a boring old pair of neutral colored suede mary jane type flats.  They had a couple small scuff marks that I scrubbed out with an old toothbrush.  The ones that didn't come out got covered by mixing some pastel chalks until I matched the shoe color and rubbed it in with my fingers.  Voila.  To spruce it up more, I painted the side of the soles (which were the same neutral color) a bright neon orange with some acrylic paint I had.  Very cool.

It was so much fun, I went back to the closet and found two more pairs to play with later...
