Day 29 MMM'19: A Lighter Shade of Pale

...Blue

~ yes, it is ~

The blue shades are as old as that song I alluded to.

~ yes they are ~

The vest I made so long ago, I really don't recall.  But a long while after that, I refashioned the jacket that it was, into the vest that it is now.  I had also made matching pants.  Now where are those...

~ I seem to be misty-eyed ~

The shirt you've seen before and is a recent make from stretch mesh, self-drafted.  I wear it a lot.  The pants are a few years old now, made from a heavy linen table cloth using Tina Givens Phoebe pants pattern, modified.  Also seen here.

It was actually a bit cool out, so another layer was necessary.
I threw this on for our walk.

~ recognize that print? ~

It's the same 2-sided stretch denim that I used for the pants I had on yesterday.  ha.

~  I luv the pattern used to make it ~

The Sewing Workshop's Thai Coat pattern.  I've made another one, here,  but this one is the best choice of fabrics for it.

~ and it's not hard to make either ~

and finally,
~ more Mary Jane Doc Martens from ebay ~

Only two more days to go!  phew.

Meanwhile, I'm all set to join Spy Girl's May Florals.  And go for Catherine's Share All link-up too.  Stop on by.

  1. Interesting angle modification to the pants.
That coat shows off that amazing fabric to perfection!

    1. Yeah, the fabric was so stiff, it called out for it.
I know, that fabric was made for that coat. I'm always on the look-out for double side fabric, but that was a miracle.

  2. Those pants and the pattern do not resemble each other except that pants go on your legs (clicks through to second post on same....) oookay.
    Yours are better.

  3. Well, now. They start out the same as the pattern in that they have a side panel that is about 6" wide. But that made mine so wide and the fabric was already so stiff that it was going to nicely gather up into a little bitty band at the bottom. So I just folded the bottom edge up at the outer side seam at 90 degree angle, and voila, I had fins.

Other than these, I've made the Phoebe pants as directed lots and lots of times. Too bad I didn't link to them all, but then I'd never get through the post!

  4. WOWZA! The look with the coat added! My EYES!

I have utterly failed to meet my MeMadeMay goals. Again. Oh well. I DID get the one year running Floral Shirt rehab finished, so there's that.

Thanks again for linking up. Indeed, a prize is in store for you.

    1. And that was a major rehabilitation, Spy Girl. I seem to have a lot of flowers in my closet...

  5. Refreshing. Haven't been sewing much but finally tore apart my stash today. I go downstairs with one project in mind and end up with ten, no sewing done at all.

    1. Tell me about it, Jean. Deliberating is at least half of what sewing is about, don't you think?

    1. And it's pretty easy to make too. Oh my goodness, I can't see a wardrobe room pix happening in my future. It's hard enough just getting in there!
